Sprung a leak in one of the rear tires. After removing the tire, tube and busted parts of the rim, found a bit of a hole. Bought new rims and getting ready to put the tires back on. Is there a right and wrong direction to install the tires? Simply, should the loops be towards the inside or out? Previous owner had the loops on the inside and therefore the disks installed the opposite of what I've seen in other pictures. I'm not experienced with any of this, but it looks like from what I can see that the changing tires with out removing the disk (see pic) could be tough. I don't have a second set of rims/tires (like turf tires) that would need to be changed out. So how much does it matter if the loops are towards the inside or out?

Not sure what you are calling the "loops" ?

After looking at the parts, suspect the "loops" are on the rim. And they can be in or out, depending on how wide you want your wheels..

Yes - I would guess that curdy is calling the brackets that hold the rim on the center - loops. Curdy - if your new wheels are like those in the picture - post # 2 - there are EIGHT position configurations that the wheels can be put into. Rim with loops out/center dished out/mounted on inside of loops - rim with loops out/center dished out/ mounted on outside of loops - - Rims with loops in/center dished out/mounted on inside of loops - rims with loops in/center dished out/ mounted on outside of loops - - and the other four are with the center dished in. This is a method to get the rear wheels exactly right for row crop farming.

In any case - unless you have some really good reason - I would suggest reassembling the wheel to give you the max width.

This would be - -- rims with the loops in - center dished out and mounted on the inside of the loops. Your bottom pic may almost be that way except the dished out center is mounted on the outside of the loops. And I can't tell if the loops are in the "in" or "out" position.

The only difference having the "loops" in the in or out position will be how wide your rear tires will end up being. Just be sure you do both sides the same.

I would want the hole for the valve stem on the outside.
Since you stated rims, I ASSUME you are doing both. Make sure the tire is mounted for correct direction of travel, for both left and right side.
Then determine what width you want and mount the center as required: whether dished in or dished out, whether loops in or out.

My land does not require maximum stability, so I do not have my rear tires set for maximum width, but rather to match the width of my front tires. I have my fronts set at the maximum recommended for a loader (which is not the maximum they will go) then rears set to same overall width. My thinking is if the fronts will fit between trees, the rears will too. If I had steep hills I would set my rear tires at the maximum for stability.

WaHOO - Zebrafive - valve stem on the outside - EXCELLENT POINT. My big 'ol tires are filled with Rimguard and if the valve stems were on the inside - - well, lets say, I'd just have to have it changed.

The rear tires on my M6040 are set "one notch" short of max width and same with the fronts. The fronts are set at the width that Kubota recommends for max load on the FEL.

Good settings on the Kubota!!

Only consideration is to mount them opposite of each other. The design intent is to offer wide range of settings. Swap sides to achieve the goal if necessary.

Valve stems on the outside is preferred but not necessary.

I would weld on stem protectors before mounting tires.

Thanks for the clarification everyone. Makes sense to me. Only other question I have now is regarding the rim bolts. Can I use regular hardware from TSC or is it really necessary for me to use the T27511 cap screws with the extra piece on them to keep them from turning? I'm having to cut all the old ones off so I would need to buy 12. Do the OEM ones really serve a purpose other than the convenience of tightening from one side only?

You are welcome to make that choice.. but I wouldn't.
