Tires Rice/Cane Tires (grinding)

I found a local tire shop that agreed to grind the rice/cane tires on my YM1700 (8.3/24) in order to make them closer to a standard AG tire. Although they had never put a tractor tire on the grinding machine, they did a great job in taking off the lip and rounding out the tire. I know I lost some traction, however the ride is much better on the hard clay soil in this area. Well worth the $25 I paid to have both tires done.

Anyone else attempted to make rice/cane tires a little less agressive?

Nice job, looks like even though it was there first time to try rice tires they did you a good job. I offten wondered what rice tires felt like on hard soil, I have turff's on the back of mine and am getting close to installing ag tires and was thinking that my seat time is going to beat my back-side to death but spinning tires in wet grass or having the guy next door pull me out with his back hoe it getting very old!

I know what you mean about turf tires because I have an extra set of rims with turf tires (Firestone ANS) that I use in the summer. Nice ride but I do spin on occasion.

I've kept the rice tires on my 1500, but reduced the air pressure so the tire gives just a little bit. Smoother ride and still have good traction, but still hard on the grass when the soil is real damp

I just can't afford to get stuck on my tractor... I need that agressive agg tread. My friend has turfs on his NH 1210, and can't even pull a peice of fence behind it in his riding arena if it has rained anywhere in the state.

I've ridden with aggs on asphalt, and it just isn't that bad... a bit noisy... but heck.. so is the tractor..
