Has anyone had success in building/finding a retriever that will pick up and carry a stack of small squares made with a NH bale wagon?

Seems like this is the missing link in a good system....

The bale wagon is supposed to be able to retrieve the stacks it builds and unloads. My 1012 does this, but the stacks must be formed using a non-default 2nd Table array. This array holds together the stack with some lateral interlacing.

Then you need the 2 forks that bolt onto the 3rd (main) table. These get shoved under the parked stack and pick it up when you lower it a bit. Then you can either drive it away in a raised position or pull it down completely for roadway transport.

My 1012 manual explains how to do this, includes pictures of the steps in the process.

thanks guys. the manual for my 1044 doesn't say anything about picking them up again. I see some references to placing a pallet on the load rack, which might help in getting under the stack without knocking it down. I also saw one youtube video of a truck mounted unit that gripped the stack from the sides and picked it up, which seems safer. I have a handful of bale customers where I deliver with the bale wagon and stack in their yard, and it takes too much time while haying is actually going on. I'd like to stack them at home or in the field temporarily and then deliver them afterward. I'm a one man band so re-loading them on a trailer is problematic.

I believe your 1044 has a mechanism already there to form a few tie-tiers. These interlieve layers so the stack stays firm and upright. You already have the 6 rear forks to slide back under the full stack.

My manual says you should remove the 2nd table rolling rack fingers and wedges before retrieving a load. When you have backed up and the 3rd table forks are under the load, use a chain and a manila rope to tie the stack at the top tier to the back.bottom of the 3rd table. Then lower it. Done.
