After deciding on Mahindra, and looking at the India made tractors of the bigger companies. I rethought things one more time.

Mahindra 6500 14.3K
- off brand tires
- chassis paint (look at photos of one 3 years old)
- old style ergonomics
- old style styling

John Deere 5303 16K
+ more modern design (shifters to side)
+ independent PTO
+ wet disk brakes
+ better hydraulics
+ 9 speeds
+ goodyear tires
+ five year finance +25 bucks a month.
+ resale compared to Mahindra? Let's don't even start.

New Holland TT75A 15K
+ more modern design (shifters to side)
+ 72HP
+ better hydraulics
+ a few synchro shift gears.
+ wet disk brakes
+ independent PTO
+ goodyear tires
+ modern styling
+ five year finance +10 bucks a month.
+ resale compared to Mahindra? Let's don't even start.

Kubota
- just can't drive a Kubota (buts that's me)

My tractor is a lot smaller than you are looking at, but I considered Mahindra seriously before making a purchase. The things that made me swing to Case/New Holland and get a DX29 were, in no particular order:
1) 50% better trade-in for my little Kubota (and this off an A-plan price!)
2) Larger, stronger dealer network -- the Mahindra dealer was a startup and has no tractors visible at his store now. CNH has 4 well established dealerships within a 25 mile radius of my home.
3) Ergonomics -- the tractor and controls just fit my body better
4) Bucket quality -- way heavier material on the DX
5) Seat -- the fore and aft adjustability, cover thickness, swivel feature
6) Dealer experience -- this Case dealer treated my like family.

All are 2wd I gather. Those are astounding prices on the JD and NH! The Mahindra 4WD specs better. The 2WD seems to be a throwback.

Make sure you touch base with your Deere dealer in regards to financing vs. paying cash. The current rate on the 5x03 tractors (for 60 mos) is 5.9%. - whereas there is a $750.00 rebate available in lieu of the financing... If you have a good Credit Union, you may be able to get fairly close to that rate, and take the cash from Deere! Have your dealer amortize the financing both ways (if you can get a decent rate elsewhere) and see which way comes out best for you!

Looks like your decision is clear... or at least very nicely narrowed! That's a good thing! Different priorities (different strokes?) for different folks. :)

The Mahindra brand is clearly not for everyone in every market with every need, wallet and set of priorities. Had lime green or big blue worked out best for me, I'd not be worrying about it at all. I'm sure they're both fine machines!

Don't be sad... be happy! :) And good luck to you whatever you buy! :)
