Replacing V-belt on Del Morino F 132

Help!! Trying to replace a broken v-belt on a del morino flail mower. Another thread here asked for help for the same issue without any sound advice. Ive checked the manual to no avail - it doesnt say anything about how to fit them when THEY DONT BOTH FIT. Anyway, one fits ok, the second one wont go on cos the first ones in the way. Tried running with only one, but they snap after a very short time cos its too hot. It smells of burned rubber, then smokes for a bit before the belt snaps. Help..
