TC35
Has anyone done a clutch in one of these tractors? Mine has 1200 hours on it and I'm wondering if it may need to be done soon. Is there any way to inspect it? I haven't really taken the time to look for an inspection port so I'm hoping there is one somewhere.

I've done clutches in large farm tractors (7710) and it was no simple job. Splitting a tractor that large is a dangerous job without the proper tools. I've also split a 2N before.

The TC35 looks like it may be involved especially with the loader frame attached. Does it need to be removed?

If anyones done one do you have any pics?
What would I expect to pay for parts (clutch, pressure plate, bearings and replacing/cutting the flywheel)?

Why do you think you need to replace a clutch with 1200 hrs on it?

I noticed the adjustment seems to be close to the limit. I bought the tractor with over 1000 hours on it and I have no idea how the previous owner treated it. Also the NH dealer I bought it from told me that they usually need to be replaced between 1200 and 1500 hours.

It may have alot of hours left in it for all I know but I'd like to know for a little peace of mind.

I'm certainly hoping it won't need to be replaced for a good long while.

I usually hate when people chime in without answering the question directly, but now I'm going to do it. You know for what it's worth, you won't hurt anything by letting the clutch completly go out, it will just eventually just spin without ever engauging the gear, so I say if it dosen't need it now why not just let it ride because you know it will be expensive and suck to do. Just with my luck it would go out when you are extremely far away in the dead of winter or somthing like that.

Thats probably what I'll do. I was just wondering how big a job it was. I know I can handle it but it sucks to be without the tractor for a week or so while doing it.

That would be my luck too. I do have a big Dynahoe backhoe I can use to tow it if needed though.

If you have split a 2N and 7710, it shouldn't be difficult for you to look at a TC35 and envision what it would take to replace the clutch. You should also know from your experience whether it would be worthwhile for you to buy a service manual before beginning.

If you are "wondering if it needs to be done soon", it probably doesn't.

It doesn't look to be too involved but I don't have the lifting epuipment I had when I did other tractors. Namely the chain hoist on a rolling I beam. I'll be using floor jacks and straps which is alot more dangerous.

Im hoping that it doesn't need to be done. I'm just preparing myself mentally in case it does.

There's nothing dangerous about splitting a TC35 with floor jacks if proper care & forethought is used.

True. I hope I don't need to find out for a long time though.

Thanks for your advice.
