Replacing oil pump

I have a 57 ford powermaster 861 172 ci that the oil pump has failed, I did do numerous things to confirm this so a new one will be here tomorrow. The question i have is, do i need to remove distributor on tractor to remove pump and any tips or tricks would be appreciated Thanks all
