Replacing blower, Chanin driven auger?

Hi all

I posted earlier on replacing my blower attachemnt on my Cub with a Berco unit. I found out that now the Cub Cadet replacement for my tractor is a berco, go figure...

Also it is quite the hassle for me to get one as apperantly they wont have any to ship until later this month, then 2 weeks to get it from canada after that.....

Anyhow, it has a chain driven auger instead of a gear box. What's are the advantages and disadvantages to this?

Most snow blowers that I'm familiar with have the auger driven by a chain drive. There is a shaft that comes off the main gearbox that turns some gears that are connected to the auger by a chain.

Could you be more specific about the chain drive that the Berco unit has?
