I just traded a four year old L3410 HST for a L3430 HST. Why? Because I could and the 0% just made it too good a deal to pass up. Seriously, I wanted the extendable 3 point arms and the QT bucket on the loader as the older I get the harder it was getting to change implements and swap the loader bucket for the pallet forks.

How does the new comapre to the old? The power feels the same, the loader (LA723) is much easier to take off/put on, the operators area is more comfortable, and the QT bucket is the ticket.

On the downside I don't care for the HST pedal. The 3410 was easier to keep my foot positioned for backing up. The view of the implements is limited by the width of the fenders.

Carl -- Just curious why you stuck with the same size instead of going up to the L3830 as long as you were trading? Were you just comfortable with the size of the tractor you had..?

I sometimes think of trading in my L3010 for an L3830 not just because of the increase in power, but mostly for the larger implements (and longer reach backhoe) it supports. But I must admit to being very comfortable with the size of Clementine. She fits in the garage and carport very easily.

You want more power, yet the same size (the 3800 stuff weighs a bunch more; heck, the 3400 series is marginal for a nice "country lawn", especially if the ground is wet) - well, it's called a GST (or if you really like to shift, a DT).

Please let's not get into that tired old debate. There are valid reasons for each tranny type. I chose the HST as the best fit for me. Give it a rest. Pete

I found the 3410 to be more than adequate for my needs. In fact given the relatively small acreage I have, it is probably more tractor than I really need.

Do I ever wish for more oomph? Sure on a rare occasion, but not often enough to justify going up in cost by 2K. You have to draw the line somewhere.
