I've got a Husqvarna chainsaw I bought back in 2013 that needed the 18" bar replaced, so I ordered a Husqvarna brand one from Amazon that matched the Husky part number on the old bar. The new one has no sprocket grease hole like the old. I did use to grease the old one when I thought of it.

Anyone bought a bar recently and noticed the grease no longer there?

My Stihl ms310 bars don't have sprocket grease points. Enjoy your newly reduced saw maintenance!

I haven't greased a sprocket in > 35 years, yet the only time that I lost a tip was when a foreman told me to keep cutting even though there were only 7 teeth left on the chain. The B&C oil is adequate to lube the sprocket. If you grease though, do it every time you fuel as it creates a seal so that the B&C oil can't get through.

How many teeth did the foreman have?

I had an old - 20 year - Husqvarna that had a simple hole out on the tip for greasing. My two new Stihl's don't have that. The outer roller sprocket must be lubricated by the bar oil.

Don't fret, keep your bar maintenance simple and effective. Rotate your bar top to bottom often. Clean out the groove with your bar plate or putty knife, often. Start from the tip and work back, forcing the funk out of the open back. File the sides once in a while. You and yer saw will be fine.

Mine have always had an oil hole. I usually squirt the oil can in there every couple of times I use them. Just a backup if the chain lube fails for any reason.
I take it on board that it may not be necessary but it makes me feel like I'm doing the right thing. :)
