A lot of you may remember that a short time ago I posted of my experience with a tractor dealer in Australia called Agricat.
The main topic of the thread was to thank the members for their help in winning a court case against this company.
Those that read the thread will also remember I did not go into great detail about the court action or my dealings with the company but listed links to web sites.
That thread has now been removed with no explanation.
If there was a problem with the thread a message to explain the problem would have been nice or just having the links deleted.
Perhaps they got a legal threat of action? (this has already shut down the web sites)
What is funny about this is that I have had no threat of legal action against me maybe because all I have said is true and they are afraid to go back to court?
We non USA members constantly see postings on here about your First Amendment? Perhaps it does not cover this site.

Once again If there was a problem with the thread a message to explain the problem would have been nice.

I have been reprimanded for some opinions I made. That is to be expected. I have outrageous opinions sometimes.

I have also been involved in threads that should have been deleted in the first few posts, but went on till it became uncomfortable to read them.

Either way the right thing was done according to the web site rules.

It goe's with the territory.

Subject and content of threads/discussions on Internet forums, like in my own home, are at the discretion of the master of the house... Having been a moderator on several forums, this is probably the most forgotten little detail by users. This is a location on a server and associated bandwith to allow communication, and like a home, require funding to provide this place to meet. This is not a free public place, and the first ammendment is at the whim of the owner. Facts of internet life:)

"Either way the right thing was done according to the web site rules."

Can you be more specific about what website rules were violated by that post?

That thread seemed to me to be in the members' interests to publish such facts to save others the grief and legal expenses. If only laudatory posts are allowed, then the forum becomes nothing more than a good ol' boys club and mutual admiration society, hardly a useful thing beyond ego gratification for the few.

Am I missing something here?

I must have missed something too. I considered the posts and links to be nothing less than informative. There was an outfit in Arkansas back in the late 90s coincidentally calling themselves AgriCat. They went bust, leaving a helluva lotta customers in the lurch. They re relocated and started selling under another name, information was subsequently posted in forums as well. Don't recall any posts regarding THAT AgriCat gettin' pulled. I see no reason that offended customers can't use forums to forewarn other potential victims. Hey, ya think the Arkansas guy maybe moved to Australia?

This forum is supported by advertising. Follow the money trail and you'll find out who/why it was pulled. Muhammad is not immune from caving under pressure.
I thought it was an excellent posting and not incriminating in any way, just informative.

Yep, guess the truth just hurt too much.

As stated above the thread being pulled is sad but is as others state at the moderators discretion. but I would have thought a simple message saying why would have been nice.
Thanks for the vote of confidence on the web site content.
sadly they managed to get to the sites .
Is it not funny that the company worries about me is it self the focus of a legal action by Caterpillar for trade mark infringement or something like that.............strange world

Strangely coincidental actually. The demise of the Arkansas AgriCat I mentioned also came about following an infringement suit. Except that suit was initiated by John Deere due to the fact that all the AgriCat tractors were being sold with the John Deere green and yellow paint scheme.
