Kioti DK45S w/ KL451 Loader 1954 Ford NAA 1948 Ford 8N 1939 Ford 9N
I have a Kioti DK45C and am trying to install a set of hydraulic cables from the rear remotes to the front of the loader for by new grapple. The bulkhead I got had two holes drilled in the mounting plate that line up perfectly with a square black box that has other hydraulic lines connected to it (see pic). This is a KL451 loader if that matters. Is this a good spot to mount this bulkhead or should I be looking at some other place?

I am trying to order the hydraulic hoses and length matters.

Isn't that on the wrong side though? You want the bulkhead on the same side as where the hoses come from, or on the torque tube towards the right side of the loader.

Not sure - that is the side my grapple hoses come off my grapple. Does it matter which side it is on? If so, can you please tell me why?

Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge, it makes no difference where they are mounted. Typically they are mounted on the torque tube on the right side or middle. I have had 1 customer put them on the far left of the torque tube, thinking that he would not have to walk as far when getting off the tractor to uncouple. :confused3: I guess that other 3' was going to make a difference for him.

My thinking is if the couplers are comfortable to use on the side and your grapple hoses are long enough, put them on the block. No need to have to drill any other holes that way.

It's a matter of convenience mostly-especially if you take to your loader off, here is why: Your running new hoses (not "cables") from the rear couplers that are probably on the right, then under the tractor to where the existing hoses connect, you'll want to add couplers there for when you remove loader anyway without removing all the new hoses. So after those mid couplers, you will be running the new hoses up the loader mast following the stock hoses that are on the right side. Generally that's why the bulkheads are mounted on this side. If you follow that pattern, you'll have to pass that location, go across the front torque tube, then up the other side and then either add two (actually four) 90* fittings or u-turn the hoses so the QD's are pointed down for the grapple to attach to. So not only will it be inconvenient, it will also cost more in longer hoses and/or fittings.

Oh, and one more thing, you only really need 1/4" hoses to do all this, but most guys run 3/8" anyway. Don't use 1/2", it will just cost more and it's much harder to route for no increase in performance.

Just my opinions, worth what you paid for it :)

Kenny, he is not putting the disconnect fittings in the middle, trying to save money.

Yeah - I have a few more tractors and purchased this one specifically for the front end loader, so I do not see a time when I will want to remove this. On the off chance I do - I will just remove the hoses from the rear remotes and cut the few ty raps securing the hoses under the cab. My main concern with this post was if it was ok to place the bulkhead on this box. I am new to loaders and such, and I usually prefer to ask more knowledgeable folks before doing something that may be stupid. It appears by the replies this location will be fine as long as the attachment hoses will reach - and they do.
