Okay, let me try to describe.....

Got this semi truck and it has a remote lubrication (grease system). It's not an automatic one, but the grease fittings are mounted in one location and has tubes going to where they have to go. Looks kine of factory (or if not, a really good job adding).

Any how, I have some equipment that getting to the grease fittings is a dog. Sometimes they don't get greased (and you know what happens). Any how, does anyone know or has converted a standard grease fitting to a tube and mount the nipple somewhere more accessible?

I thought about making one, but then I remembered that not all fittings were the same thread..... so adapting a hose wouldn't work. I know they are out there, but not sure where to start and how much a 'kit' would cost.

I've seen them on stationary equipment and just recently on an old grape harvester (mobile). I hear it's more and more common for auto grease units, but I just need a remote grease for a few spots that's a pain to get to...

Hi,

A good place to start is take out a few fittings and see what thread they are. !/8" NPT is probably the most common, followed by 1/4"NPT. Once you have decided the correct size, go and get some fittings that work with 3/16" or 1/4" nylon tube. Install the new fittings in the holes. Maesure, cut and fit nylon tube from where you want the greasing done, to the newly fitted grease fittings. The fittings probably come in two or three varieties - push fit, compression fitting and others - your choice. Just clip the nylon tubing to stop it from getting ripped out. You might want to make a greasing point with a brocket of some sort that holds the grease nipple.

That is about it - not rocket science. Just need to decide what you are going to do and then buy the parts needed.

Ive seen guys bend a piece of steel brake line...with a flared fitting on the end that matched where the Zerk fitting went in. Install a female on the other end and screw a new Zerk into the female.

There are a couple of companies that make remote mount lubrication equipment and accesories. The ones installed on your truck are most likely factory. Many trucks offer this as a option along with the option of a automatic remote lubrication system.

Lincoln and Bijur are two of the most popular lubrication equipment suppliers in industry. Both manufacturer remote grease fitting kits like your looking for.

You might even think about automatic grease cups with remote refill fittings.

Depending on what type of tractor your looking at installing it on you should check the Lincoln website. They offer complete kits for tractors from manual systems to automatic systems. Lincoln Automatic Lubrication Systems for Case, New Holland, Gleaner and John Deere combine harvesters
