Remanufactured Engines

Anyone here ever purchase a remanufactured engine from Country Sales and Service in Ohio? I posted a thread in the Kubota forum that in a nutshell our Church is probably getting a Kubota L4310 with a blown engine and hole in block. We aren't interested in getting a short block to rebuild ourselves and want to get a reman with warranty. From my searching and research on the net a new engine in $4500 and a reman from CS&S is about $3000 with a 1 year warranty unlimited hours. Just looking for opinions on the company and their quality the put out.

Question - is the $4,500 quote from your local Kubota dealer? Does that figure include the removal of old engine and install of new? What warranty conditions apply to the "new" install vs the 1 year on the "reman"?

Just really wondering if the $1,500 difference is really all that much...?

I would get a crate motor every time over a re -manufactured motor.

$1,500 is not enough of a saving considering 'IF" and that's a HUGE "IF" the reman engine holds up, and you have to do it all over again, nah not worth it.

Just my ywo cents, but I have hear way too may horor stories with reman engines, OH SURE they will warranty the engine and may even give you another one, but often times the labor is on uou. Plus you got all the down time.

I never have heard of problems with a crate engine, and not saying they also won't have problems but like I said for the $1,500 the odds are in favor of a crate engine.

Lastly Kubota is not goint to take short cuts whereas the reman builder might just go with some cheap parts here and there.

What is the warranty on a engine from kubota and is labor covered if you get a bad one and have to pull it? You might find out it is more and labor is part of the warranty if something is wrong. AS far as unlimited hours, means zero because you aren't going to get many hours on it.

This is a DIY install for OEM or reman. We do the work. The reman said they use only new Kubota parts. I guess if you look at it that way where there is only a $1500 difference why not go with the OEM. I found this information on the Kubota OWM warranty. Looks to be 2 years or 2000 hours which ever is first. Kubota Engine America - Compact Diesel Engines

Are there any issues with a core charge-will they accept your old engine with the hole in the block?

There is no indication of core charge. Other sites I have looked at do mention it. One site was $3500 with a $700 core charge. I am assuming nobody would take an engine as a core with a hole in the block.

Well that tells you right there. Find a dealer and get a engine from him and see what kind of a deal he well cut you on the labor. With him doing the labor you are covered for 2 years parts and labor.
