I posted another question about replacing a Ford 3000 Gas w/ a new diesel tractor and several members thought I should just use the 3000. This is a running tractor needing some repairs and I am not sure if I should sink the time and money into this tractor.
Usage will be bush-hogging rough terrain, FEL to move small amounts of dirt and leveling/repairing roads, and perhaps running a 5' disc to clear/maintain a small food plot. Typical usage will be a few hours of use every other weekend or so.
This tractor does not have a FEL, so I would need to add this, plus a front-mounted pump and whatever controls necessary.
Current problems:
-Needs full tune-up
-Hydraulic pump leaks at engine mounting
-Clean/Repaint/Repair top half of engine, radiator, hood where battery acid was sprayed and corroded paint
-Oil Pan Gasket - leaking
-Replace exhaust from manifold down
-PTO output shaft is leaking
-New Seat
-Replace alternator, bracket, voltage regulator, battery, and battery hold-down clamps, etc.
-Brakes don't work - I have to stand on them to just slow the thing down.
-Tach doesn't work
-Throttle Position needs new friction disc.
-Power Steering Leaks
The hydraulics seem to work Ok on the rear, and it does have good power. I think this tractor has the capability of handling our tasks, but I am somewhat overwhelmed by all the work this thing needs. I know some things aren't 100% necessary, but I either want to really fix this up (short of a restoration) or replace it.
