Redneck chain harrow for smoothing pasture?

My land is bumpy as all get out and i dont have a disc so im trying to make due with what i got. I got this idea in my head the other day and i wanted to run it by the expert southern enginers here! I have a heavy duty 8 x 10 ft chain harrow. I also have a 6 ft mower. and i noticed on mw mower i have the option to tkae off the wheel in the back. So i always hook my chain harrow to a hitch on the back of my tractor like a truck. So what if i hook up my harrow then got get my mower on without the wheel and lay it down on top of the chain harrow and just let it rest on top of the chain harrow it would add alot of weight and make it dig in the ground better? Would this work or am i smoking crack?

The flexible chain harrow will tend to follow the terrain, so it will ride up on bumps, and down into depressions. What you need is something to stiffen it so it digs hard into high spots, and that material is carried along and distributed, but when it passes a depression, it kind of just flies right over the top, dropping any carried material and not picking any out of the low spot. A mower deck setting on top might help with the first, but I think it will not keep the harrow from dragging down into depressions.

I have a chain harrow I use to groom my gravel drive, and had thought a bit about using it for the same thing. I got to thinking that if I attached some sections of pipe to the top of he harrow mat that layed lengthwise parallel to the direction of travel, I could attached the harrow mat in a bunch of places. This would make it more rigid, like dragging a flat plate with teeth and might allow it to not drop into depressions, but instead leave material there to fill them in.
