Tractor
Kubota 4330 hst/853 fel
I am in the early stages (re: infected with new tractor fever) of shopping for a 40-50 horse tractor....
I really like the Kubota line, but I have recently looked at and am giving some consideration to a M/F.....a 1540 or 1547 model...they look good and have plenty of the features I want in a new tractor..
I will be tending to about 15-20 acres of pasture and doing some work with a fel, tending to a "huge" herd of about 15 cows and general work on and around the whole 55 acres....
QUESTION.....
there aren't many posts here about the M/F line.......are they not the tractor they once were, are just losing mkt. share to Kubota??

I like both dealers...
thanks

the MF line is alive and kickig here in oklahoma, I have the 1528 and couldn't be happier, but the 1540, will be the next one for me. can't you going wrong, with the red one, but do like the orange one too. only here the orange dealer is just too high dollar, and service is through the roof. happy shopping

Its a market share thing. Kubota is king under 50hp, and a serious player under 100. Massy does make a good tractor, worth checking out. I'll say that, and I sell oranges.

You can't go wrong with either choice, Just narrow down your requirements & then try out your fit for the two...Compare the dealers & the prices between the two and Voila your choice has been made...;) See how easy that was :D

Ask your wife which one is prettier then choose the other, that ought to keep her outta the seat!! :p

I'm just full of good advice...

Also, take a look at the "Other Orange". You will find the Kioti DK45SE to be a very well quipped tractor with higher lift capacities, more standard options, better warranty, cheaper service and a lower price.

Both brands offer EXCELLENT tractors. Massey Ferguson hasn't made a strong marketing effort in the compact tractor line until recently. They're gaining ground though. In terms of strictly "AG" products, MF has somewhat of an advantage with a more complete product line (implements) Kubota takes a back seat to no one with the products they do offer.

I'd look at the local dealers as much, maybe even MORE than the brand itself. We have a VERY strong selection of Massey Ferguson dealers in my immediate area. I've bought 2 new tractors from them in the last 6 months. Couldn't be happier with my choice.

NO ONE SINGLE BRAND "HAS IT ALL". Look at EVERY brand. Go with what feels the best for your situation. ALL the major players have very high quality offerings these days.

thanks for all of the info and opinions.......

I'm of the same mind as a few of these posts.......probably can't go wrong with either brand (or others..)......
just concerned about what to me will be a major purchase.......I had read and heard of some issues with the hydrolics on the M/F.....it's still early in the process.....
especially liked the one about getting the one the wife didn't like...ha...

thanks again....
