One of the seals inside the hydraulic pump was blown which blew the front seal forcing the hydraulic oil into the engine. I removed the hydraulic pump of my TC45D and had it rebuilt with a new seal kit (SBA340293698). I just installed the hydraulic pump and now the pump is not pumping. The FEL won't move, either will the 3PH or the PTO. The fluid levels in the engine and the trans are full. I'm wondering if I need to prime the pump? How should I prime it? Any help would be appreciated!

Make sure you pre fill the Hydraulic filter, run the tractor at an idle then slightly pressurize your hydraulic tank/ transmission with a compressed air blow gun and a rag in the fill port. But just do it lightly don't want to blow out any other seals.

Take the outlet hose or pipe off and crank the engine till oil comes out. Shut it off and reattach the hose/pipe.

Thanks for your help!
I finally got back to the tractor and started to remove the hydraulic filter. Just after I broke the seal hydraulic fluid started spilling out of the filter. Thus the filter is full of oil. I loosened the pipe on the high side of the pump so there is about 1/4" gap between the pump and high side flange. I ran the engine for about 30 to 45 seconds. No oil came out. I tried this several times with the same result. Then I removed the suction side pipe to see if the gears inside the pump were turning. I was thinking perhaps the pump shaft was broken and thus the gears were not turning, however the gears were turning. I'm beginning to suspect the pump was not rebuilt correctly even though I had the dealer rebuild it.
How long can I run the engine without moving fluid through the pump? One thing I still want to try is to remove the suction side pipe and cover the hole with my hand and see if there is any suction. I suspect there isn't.
At this point, I'm not sure where to turn or what to do. Any advice is appreciated.

You are correct to be concerned about running your pump without oil going thru it.

Since you have done a lot already, I suggest that you remove the pump and open it up. The
rotor seals in it are complex and need to be installed properly. If the dealer's mechanic did
not send the pump out to a hyd shop, then it certainly may have been rebuilt incorrectly.

I have not done many of these, but here is what they look like inside.

Thanks dfkrug.
If I can figure out how to post pics here, I have four pics, an illustrated parts breakdown (IPBD), the front seal pic, which is broken then the rear seal pic. The last pic is the Messicks parts list. What I don't understand is what is part 10 and 13 and 12 (on the IPBD) and why I don't have them in my pump. There is only one seal in front of the bushing for the front and rear bushings. I need to remove the pump again and open it to see what seals the dealer replaced. I can only assume this seal kit is for other model pumps. I know my power steering pump has the same exact rebuild kit. Perhaps these seals are used in the PS pump. My only problem with that is you know what happens when you assume!

Is there anyone out there that has rebuilt this pump? What do I need to know to rebuild it myself, other that replacing the seals? Is this covered in any repair manuals?

bcostellotc,
Main problem with running these pumps dry are the plain bearings seizing to the shaft. I believe some of this style gear pump use rubber seals under the plastic seals for better life? This may be a design change.

Just before you reinstall the pump.... Put a bit of oil on the gears and turn it over by hand. The oil gets all over the gears and seals them so that the pump will prime easier.
