Rebuild JD LA145 or buy used JD 314 for same price

I have a JD LA145 with a shot transmission. Apparently these are sealed and have to be replaced. From what research I can find this will have to be done every few years. For the same price as a replacement I have found a used, good condition JD 314. Can't find much info on their reliability. Am seriously considering buying the used 314 instead if I can find some info on them. Anyone own one and if so how do you like it?
