Hello ladies and gentlemen.

Have a TC25D and want to mount a work light for this winter.

Factory unit best? Where does it mount? Any pictures anyone?

Thanks,

Cliff

CD,

Do a search for work lights. There was some good discussions a while back a long with pictures. Don't get the New Holland ones. Yes easier to mount but awfully expensive. I would have spent around $170.00 for two lights from New Holland. I picked up some lights from Harbor Freight along with some magnetic ground blocks that I will be able to point the lights to the front or just flip them for the back if I wish. I still have not got them mounted though otherwise I would post a pic.

But some of the other guys did the exact same thing and it worked great.

Thanks for the reply and advice.

Hoping that someone will reply with a picture so I can see exactly what I am looking for - that is the Harbor Freight arrangement you describe.

I will also go back and search for the thread that you mention.

The light and the factory bracket that mounts onto the ROPS of your TC should cost you no more than 35.00 I cant believe the liberties that dealers take on this light set up with the price.

Here's where I mounted my lights.

I think the factory system has the cleanest and easiest install but it probably isn't considered the best system. My light facing the rear is great but my light facing the front would be more useful if it was up higher. I sure do like having the light switches right on the lights themselves. Here is a link to the thread I did on my auxilary lights back in March of '02.

I bought the factory recommended unit. Cost $34.95. It mounted in a matter of minutes, I tapped into the wiring that was provided specifically for the unit on the tractor. The whole project took 10 minutes from the time I opened the box to the time I hung up my tools.

The light is a bright halogen bulb that is MUCH brighter than the headlights and throws a nice pattern. I do not see the need for 2 lights based on my use and based on how bright the factory light is, also the housing allows for adjustment so you can easily aim the light.

You can probably get buy much cheaper than the $35 unit from the dealer, but if you figure in you tinkering time, it might be cheaper to just use the factory light & mount!?!

Cliff, I CAN recommend the NH light. It comes with its own built in switch and connects right to the cable and plug already at the rear of the tractor. I paid $20 for the light and have seen similar lights at TSC for $20 without the built in switch. I think the bracket was something like $15 to $20, but you could mount it directly to the fender if you wanted. The quality of the light is first-rate and gives off lots of light. I'm sure you might be able to get multiple lights or come up with a design for some facing forward and some back however if you want to buy some lights designed for cars/trucks, but you'll have to engineer the mounting yourself. Many folks have attached them to the top of the ROPS, but if yours if folding then you'll have to provide a way to keep the wire from getting pinched or stretched.

I think I will go with the factory setup if I can get it for under $50. More than that I think they are over charging me.

In the mean time I'm going to check out your pictures and past threads to see if I can learn something.

Beginning the teardown of my 52 Dodge Power Wagon. Bottom line - don't want to be dealing with the tractor issues in the middle of my engine rebuild. Will be rebuilding the motor over the Fall and WInter.
