Today I was about to backup on a slight slope and the rear wheels started to spin. I thought the front wheels might be locked up. I jacked the front end and the wheels spin freely. Any thoughts would be appreciated

Need more rear ballast.

What type or model of vehicle and under what conditions? Suspect like Kenny states you more weight on the rear to offset load on front.

Kioti ck25. It happens going forward too if I'm in a rut. When it first happened I was in the driveway very slight slope with no load on front end.

Try engaging the locking differential, see if both tires spin. the wheels spin freely as in 4X4 mode? If so they should have helped your movement.

Put in 4X4 mode... Use rear differential lock.... Use ballast weight... Use LOW gear range.... IF that does not get you there, you don't need (want) to go there

The amount of weight an empty loader adds to front is surprising on these small machines.

If no loader and still spinning you must be on very limited traction surface.

Wet grass is a great one for that! Without much weight you can
spin your wheels on flat ground with wet grass

I'm afraid it's much more then a ballast or traction problem. Is as though the front wheels are locking up and the rear wheels are turning.

How many hours on that tractor? Reason for asking is that the original front axle assembly on my Branson was assembled wrong at the factory and one tire would randomly lock up after around 30 hours on the clock. The problem was the input shaft bearing had excessive preload and ground itself up allowing input shaft to randomly caulk and bind on the spider gears. I believe dealer finally found that problem by removing the cover over the input shaft and oil ran out.

Oldnslo , I think your on the right track,it seems to be randomly binding up. I'll have to get into the front axle and see what's causing it. Thanks.
