I seem to have a problem with my rear tires on my 2710. Everytime I try to lift this rather large boulder with my loader, the rear tires develop an air pocket right under them. So I proceeded to load my 6' mower on my 3pt with all kinds of heavy logs to conteract this problem. No avail! Could there be helium in my rear tires? Or is it just as Kubota's add suggests, my tractor is analogous to an ANT?

Try a calcium solution in the rear tires. On my B2100 this adds ~300lbs per tire. I believe your tires are a bit larger and might hold more weight. BTW, how heavy is the rock?? I lifted and moved a 500 lb snowmobile with no rear balast. The back end felt a little light, but never came off the ground. Course I also add about 250 lbs of balast to the seat./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Jon.
Filling your rear tires would help, but I perfer to use about 1/3 of what my loader can lift for counter balance.
Just how big is this rock?
Are you on level ground when trying to pick this rock up?
By the sounds you indeed have a good front end loader.
Helium in your tires you ask, that would be very interesting.
Be careful.

I assume a 2710 uses a similar loader to the 2910 and is rated to lift 1000#. Your tractor and loader manual should give the recommended ballast to use the loader at maximum capacity. I use 1000# water/antifreeze (non-toxic type)in the rear tires plus 900# on the rear 3 point. 20 inch dia rock should weigh in the ballpark of 1000#. How large is the boulder?

Everyone knows that the helium goes in the front tires for loader work! Your dealer should have done this when installing the loader!

I knew there had to be a logical explaination for the poor traction on my rear tires, Von. I'll call the dealer and get this rectified right away! Anyhow, the rock in ? is almost 3'x2'x2', so it is probably over 1000lbs. However, I just might have "tweeked" the loader bypass valve a little and so now it lifts a little more./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I'll check the manual to see how much ballast is recommended, but I don't want to load the tires.

Weight of the rock

At 3'x 2' x 2' I would estimate your rock to weigh well over 1000#, more like 1800#. I use 150# per cubic foot to estimate rock weight. The hard part is getting an accurate measure of the cubic feet.

Wish I had your loader!

Re: Weight of the rock

Let's see. The instruction book says to fill the bath tub with water. Put the rock in the bath tub. Measure the water that flows over the top in cubic inches or cubic feet. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Maybe you should tie a chain around it and drag it off - kinda like a short squatty tree. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Be sure to drag from the tow bar as the tractor tilting head over heels is bad enough without coming down with a rock in the seat with you. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Re: Weight of the rock

Ok. If I can get the wife to go to her sisters for a couple of hours this weekend I think I can get the tractor, with said boulder, through the sliding door, if I remove both panels, and drive it to the bathroom and drop it in the tub before she knows what's happening. But then I still can't keep the rear tires on the ground. Darn helium!/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I think it is quite a bit less than 1800lbs however.
Anyway, once again I say <font color=orange>"I love my Kubota!"</font color=orange>
