Rear tire needs air

My rear tire went flat it has been leaking a little bit meaning every month or so I would need to add some air to it. Well this week it went all the way flat and the bead broke. I have attached a few pics but I can not get it pumped up. Will the bead sealant work or should I continue to try and get the wheel off. I have the bolts lost but need a few hints on how to get it off.

I have had the same thing happen to all of my tractors except the Kubota so far. I used the same technique you are attempting, it just appears you don't have the right size/power strap as you need more compression to move the sidewalls out.

You will need a pretty high volume tire compressor.

Though for safety reasons, I cannot recommend it, I have known people to use either or gasoline to expand and seal the tire.

Just thinking out loud here, before you call the tire guy...if you have a compressor of any size here is what I would try....get someone to help you and find where between the wheel and the tire the most air is escaping when you try to fill it...then have the person helping you use a plastic garbage bag or something like that to hold over the area where the most air is escaping and hold it down tight and then give it as much air as you can ..it might just be enough to snap a the tire back to seal against the wheel..it worked for me once .

R4 industrial tires have an awfully tough side wall. Using a strap or chain will be hit or miss whether you will succeed. If you have a local truck tire dealer around take it to them. The last one I tried myself I spent over an hour trying it by myself and even with the help of my brother in law did not succeed. I finally gave up and took it to the local truck tire center. They used a beat blaster, and within minutes I was on my way home. Cost me ten dollars cash. The hour I wasted trying it myself cost me a lot more than that. If you absolutely can't get it off the tractor, then there are mobile tire services that can come out and fix it on-site.

Has anyone tried wrapping a Come-A-Long around the tire and using the leverage to squeeze the circumference?

Just a thought of something I'd try if in the same situation.

That is what we usually do on some of ours.

How easy should my tire come off? I have the screws and nuts lose. Should I just wedge it out with a crow bar? L3400 HST

You have to 'remove' them.

Put a ratchet strap around the tire and tighten it down so the outside balloons. Use an air compressor and fill er up. This should seat the tire.

And don't forget to take out the valve stem. You can get more air in faster and relieve the pressure faster to take the ratchet strap off after the bead catches.

How hard should the tire be to take off. The screws and nuts are out. Should I be able to pull off by hand like a car tire or are they pounded on at the factory/dealer?

Pull it like a car tire, might be a little paint holding it back.

You should also leave one or two bolts in place with just a few threads holding it.this is so the tire and wheel don't fly, flop off when you pry it loose. once loose then remove the other two loose bolts.

From the looks of your picture your strap is towards the out side of the tire. Always worked best for me to put the strap in the middle of the tread, rachett the tar out of it and than apply air. With the strap towards the out side I bet you'll never get it tight enough to make a difference. Might also need a bigger strap. I use 2" or bigger.

if you arent setup for, or have experience in mounting/dismounting large tires, your way better off letting someone who has the tools to do it right. R4 tires have a pretty tough bead to seat, not usually something you are going to seat w/a ratchet strap, especially that 'lil guy you got there. ive mounted thousands of tires from lawn mower to 12ft tall loader and haul truck tires; they are never fun, especially without a bead blaster

If he takes out the valve stem, how is he going to get it back in without breaking down the tire? Valve core is easy to take out and back in. Messin with you.

You, sir, make a very good point. The valve core removal would make far more sense.

I have used but DO NOT recomend starter fulid and a match. It works "most of the time" but when it does not work it does not work in a big way
