I installed my rear remotes today. I picked up the kit about 2 weeks ago. Today was rainy, cool and too muddy to play with dirt.

Overall the instructions are clear and everything went together as planned. Instructions say 1 hour but I took a bit more becuase somehow I pinch an o-ring and had a small hydraulic leak. A quick trip to town for a 25 cent o-ring and another 30 minutes of reassembly and all is good now.

My opinion is that anyone with a basic wrench and socket set, torque wrench and enough knowledge to change your car's oil should be able to install the rear remotes without a problem.

My trick to help get the seat out without fuss (it is very heavy and bulky) is to unbolt it, place a tie strap through the center bolt hole on the back side and then run the strap to the front. Strap it in and tighten. This keeps the seat from unfolding and scratching your fender paint.

Thanks for the info- we have one sitting on the shelf in the garage just waiting to be installed.

Does the install require you to drop all the Hydro oil or can you get away with just a top off after?

You probably don't even lose a 1/4 oz when you take the cover plate off. You will have to top off after because you will fill the new valve and lines with fluid.

Where did you get your kit at? I got one set on mine when I bought it but it seems like others were saying the dealers quoted them $600 for 1 set. I assume that was installed so I just wondered how much the kit was by itself.

Is the kit anything you couldn't get at Rural King or Tractor Supply and make your own?

I got my kit at the dealer. Price was $315 for one (A-B) set.

I don't think you could work something up at TSC or any other stores. At least not to work in the rear aux lever console. You could probably get something and mount it externally to the fender or something but that would be super ugly.

The kit contains the machined valve, hard lines, levers and couplers, various o-rings, bolts and other mounting hardware.

I wouldn't pay the dealer to install. It was super easy and other than pinching my o-ring it was painless.

I bought rear remotes with my tractor and the installation is suppose to be included with the price I paid. I am rather frusterated with my dealer right now, and I am curious. Would it be worth me installing them myself vs the work of putting the tractor on the trailer and driving 15 miles to drop in off for a week or two and then connect the trailer and go back and reload it and bring it back home? It is not alot of work to put it on the trailer etc, but all in all, I will probably have more than 2 hours invested in it by the time I got back to get it again etc... With 60 miles between the two trips, that is over an hours time alone, where I can run by the place on my lunch hour while I am just up the street to pickup the kit.

What are your thoughts?

I recomend taking it to the dealer and letting them install the rear remotes, and get two sets. I installed mine with the help of a friend only because the dealer is 3 hrs away. It turned out to be an all day job. You may consider getting the front aux. remotes also.

My problem is my dealer. At their rate of doing anything, I will be lucky to get it done this year. They are one of the most unorganized groups I have ever seen. I went today to ask to make an appointment to have it done, and they never could give me a time of when they could do it. If it is an hour job, shouldn't they be able to look at their schedule and find an hour or two opening in their service schedule. It was basically put to me as, we are booked up this week but might have time, but if not we will get to it in the next couples weeks after that. I asked if they had time to schedule it for next week, and they said well maybe just bring it in and will get it in sooner or later. I told them I would like to only have in there for a day or two if possible and they still didn't get it.

Last week I called to order a rear work light. They had to call me back 4 times before they could get a price and get a work light on order. On an 18 light they can't be making any money on when it takes them 4 calls and all day to get me a price on a work light.

This same dealer took 4 days of me visiting every day to get me a price on a Kubota, and then nearly 2 weeks to price a bobcat of similar specs to the Kubota I was looking at. Every time I went in they would tell me they didn't have time to put a price together but they would email it to me the next day. This was for in stock tractors. It was very obvious they didn't want to sell me anything, and then I went and bought from them anyhow and the service after the sale is worse. I should have know. Shame on me....
