Rear-remote for use of third function on grapple...

I have just gotten an EA grapple. We are going to use one of two rear remotes for the meantime versus installing a 3rd function. I have attached a pic of the connectors. Is there a standard approach like the male is outbound fluid flow, and the female is inbound fluid flow? I mean, pardon the pun, but that would make sense . It also looks like they used slightly different connectors (size/shape) to differentiate the two circuits. Just like the first question, is there a convention to the two males and two females being paired like they are?

If I were to guess, I would think the inner male/female is one rear-aux circuit, and the outer two are the second rear-aux circuit?

Update: This is a "Home Brew" setup on the rear remotes with lots of complexity. It is a mess, but I got it working. Apparently the whole value block has flow so there are no discrete circuits as I was thinking to the rear remote. There is a "side valve body", and attached to it in the mix is a single valve. In order to get the grapple to operate, I have to pull this "valve", which is somewhere in the mess. While it allows the grapple to operate, it disables the loader control. If I push it in, the loader control is normal, but the grapple is out of the loop. This machine had one owner, the national forestry service, and my guess is they had some mower attachments or whatever, hence the issues.

I saw in a video that with a third function, you can not actuate the function with loader control (up/down, roll in/out) at the same time the 3rd is engaged. This is exactly the behavior I am seeing, but without a "button" on the loader control. I am thinking it was a Mahindra video. Is this across all machines? @fried1765 @Smokeydog

All the quick connects from the factory I've seen have the female on the tractor side and the implement is all male fittings. No idea why. The dealer added a couple fittings to my tractor so I could run a backhoe, those are a combination of male/female in a configuration to keep the hoses from being reversed and some of each on the implement and tractor.

I put a male and a female "AG" connector up on the tractor torque tube for my EA grapple. Here is my thinking: With a male and a female up front you will never get confused as to which part of the implement (the grapple in this case) plugs in to. It is always the same and you can't mess it up. Not that it would be a big deal, but I expect the lid to open up when I press the rear remote SCV lever forward, and I expect it to snap shut when I pull it back. ALSO and this is just as important, since the implement has both male and female connectors on it as well, that means you can plug them together at all times while the implement is in storage so contaminates cannot get it. AND furthermore I ALWAYS plug them in when removed from the tractor, and then unplug them once and plug them in again so that a little oil from the lines will "puke" out. This causes a deficit of oil in the lines so that pressure cannot build up in the lines making it hard to plug into the tractor side when the time comes to re-install the grapple.

So there you go, at least 3 reasons to do it the way I did it.

THe EA did come with male/female connectors. I got it figgered out for the most part. The home brew plumbing from the previous owner will be removed over time.

I read up a bit last night, seems you have to have the 3rd plumbed into the power beyond port of the loader control, or at least last in line after everything else if that does not exist. Apparently, I have the diverter-type of setup. Ain't no biggie, just pull the value, actuate, push back in for now.

I use a factory rear SCV for my grapple. It has two female quick couplers, standard for tractors. I use colored tie wraps and colored dust caps to "color" code which hose connects where.
I connect my hoses opposite how k0ua does. It seems more natural/intuitive to move the SCV lever forward to close the grapple and rearward to open it.

I did the same when I ran lines from a rear remote up front to run the grapple.

But connecting the grapple's hoses together when you take the grapple off does not prevent pressure build up. I thought it did, but then I removed the grapple when the ambient temp was in the 50s and tried to put it on a few weeks later when it was in the 80s. I could not get the connectors to disconnect due to the pressure build up from the oil expanding.

If I park the grapple for more than an hour I now plug in a contraption I made which is a tee with male and female quick connects and a valve and cap on the third leg. When it's time to put the grapple back on I can remove the cap and open the valve to let the pressure out.

The contraption I made was two female quick couplers mounted on the lid for 5 gallon bucket. I connect my grapple lines to it when the grapple is off.

Update: The rear aux stuff is 100% homebrew, and after dorking around with it for quite some time, I figured out whatever they used is not compatible as the values were designed for flow versus holding pressure. It is not a stock/orthodox rear aux setup.

SOOOOOOO, it is now with the Kubota dealer getting back to OEM flow with an aftermarket 3rd function....
