I have had my 2305 for about 9 years. I have about 175 hrs on tractor with filled tire ballast . I have recently noticed the tires, as seen from the operator position, wobble when moving. Pressures are good. I have taken one of the tires off and checked the runout on the axle. I don't see a wobble there. The only thing I could think of is the ply of the tires moving with the ballast and compression of the machine weight. I also have anI match with a 500 lb ballast on reat. Does any have any thoughts or similar experiences. I do run the turf tires. Thanks

With only 175 hours on a nine year old tractor there is a good chance the bolts and nuts holding the wheel components together are loose. On my tractor these are 7/8" bolts.

You may be able to feel fastener looseness with your hands.

If problem is recent, LIFTING THE REAR OF THE TRACTOR OFF THE GROUND and tightening the nuts may suffice. Nuts will not hold tension if rear of tractor is on the ground when tightened.

However, with the wobble you describe the bolt holes may be hogged out and that wheel component may need to be replaced. If the rim brace is hogged the problem will only reoccur, worse, until the component is replaced.

(Ask me how I know about this particular problem and its symptoms.)

Both tyres?

Try switching the rear wheels over?

Bent rims?

Delamination of the sidewalls?

Jeff, The 2305 doesn't have 'spaceable' rims/centres. The fixed rims are deep centre offset however.

Edit: Pic might help.

Thank you. I am pretty good on Kubotas, less so on Deeres.

Loose wheel bolts still potential source of the wheel wobble, although OP has said he took one wheel off.

Yes, I read that too. Figure he would have noticed loose bolts or torn holes.
Seems to understand 'runout' so maybe jacking up one side and measuring rim with no load?

I agree. You need to check the runout on the wheel as near the tire bead as you can to see if the rim is bent or maybe just welded together crooked. (I have seen this) although if wheel was made wrong, I would think it would have been noticed earlier than 9 years. Just keep in mind that tractor wheels and tires are not made to the same tolerances as automotive and truck tires. The speed of these wheels are slow enough that the tolerances are wider to keep production costs down. I recently went through this on a new skid steer that customer complained of wobbly wheels. After measuring runout of axles and wheels, Deere said acceptable runout on that particular wheel is up to .100". Too much in my opinion, but that was their answer.

What type of hub does the tire rim bolt to?

Is this a correct diagram for your tractor?

jd 235 rear wheel hub - Google Search

As stated Jack & block up the rear of the tractor so you can spin the wheels and check for play.

Hub is a machined casting on a machined half-shaft.

Flange is threaded for wheel bolts. Approx. 14mm thick from memory.

Flange is stepped to locate rim centre quite precisely. No real wriggle-room.

Thanks I believe that is the pic. I think I am going to video the wheels from the sides while moving. I will check the welds and run out of rims. Might look good on jacks but with weight and ballast may have different results.
