Does NH have a rear discharge MMM option for the TC18/21? I know that rear discharge 3 point finish mowers are very common, but have never heard of a rear discharge MMM. Anyone have pictures?

I need to mow some very tall grass occasionally and this sounds like it would work well and would combine many of the best attributes of a traditional MMM and a rear discharge finish mower. Namely, maneuverability, no windrows, and ability to mow taller grass than a side discharge mower.

Yes, they do! According to the brochure I got when I bought my Boomer, they have a ‘914A 60” Rear Discharge Mid-Mt Finishing Mower’. They also have a 72”, but recommend it for at least a TC25. They cost a fair amount more than the 3pt type, partly because they're more rare and partly because they require additional mounting hardware.

I'm pretty interested in the 60" MMM myself, for my TC-18. Right now I have a 3-pt 60" rear discharge mower, and while it is great, maneuverability has been a problem. With the loader on, the whole arrangement is something around 14 feet long -- much too long to work around trees and the house. (And I've got a LOT of trees and obstacles) I spend half my time backing up, in order to maneuver.

With all this, I've decided to dump the 3pt and figure out something else. Believe me, it wasn't an easy decision (the 3pt really cuts well and I love the rear discharge feature). The NH MMM with rear discharge sounds good, but I'm concerned about the ease of installation/removal. I've got a FEL which I use a lot, so is taking off the MMM going to be a royal pain every week or so?

I just ordered one with my new TC18. I got the impression that it was more of a mulching deck and thus wouldn't handle tall grass better than a side discharge mower. The dealer had a spec sheet on it w/ pictures of the bottom. It had circular baffles around each of the three blades. It was described as a rear discharge mower, includes all mulching attachments whatever that means. I should get it in a couple of weeks, I'll let you know how it works.
