Looking to replace and old Wood's RB6 with either a new Wood's or a RB made by 'Sundown'. Anyone out there with Sundown experience?

I looked on their website. It would appear to be a distributor's name for their line. What I don't know and could find no assistance in is finding who's the manufacturer? KK? TarterGate? Made in China?

Good questions for which I have no helpful answers.

I have a Sundown mechanical thumb on my bh 75 backhoe. It is unbelievably heavy duty and well made. Very simple, and in my opinion, leaps and bounds better than any other that I have seen. Made out of T-1 high strength steel and weighs 56 lbs. If it is any indication of the quality of the rest of their products, I wouldn't bat an eye at buying from them.

I don't think they're a distributer. My literature from them states that the Sundown line is distributed by J.S. Woodhouse.

Good to know. I frankly have just never seen anything by them. thanks for filling us in a bit.

You know, I just went to the J.S. Woodhouse site and was looking through all of the Sundown equipment - it sure looks an awful lot like the King Kutter stuff. In fact, I opened up two windows side by side and compared the pics of a King Kutter tiller with the Sundown tiller and they appear to be identical with the exception of some sheet metal in the hitch area. Same with a lot of the other equipment. It sure looks like the same line. Why the name change? I think I'm going to e-mail King Kutter. They've been very helpful answering question in the past.

I'll keep you informed.

Take a look at their Rear Finish Mowers. Ditto. Either a dead clone of KK or made by KK. Curiouser and Curiouser.

I just picked up a used set of Sundown FEL pin-on mount pallet forks from CL. Nicely made - can't wait to fit them up to my loader.

Well the word is that indeed, King Kutter makes products for Sundown. So now we know - mystery solved.

I just don't get why?

So, King Kutter makes the product for Sundown who distributes it through yet a third distributer? Doesn't make much sense to me.

It's an interesting world these days. Half the stuff at TSC used to be KK and others had TSCs County Line stickers.

We have re-branded, re-decal tractors, why not? This is as old as Kenmore and Whirlpool.

More likely the distributor wants to sell a line, buys their products from whoever, in this case KK, but wants their own, unique name, so Sundown is born. Marketing.
