I just bought a 7500 and am wondering what implement has been the most successful for people for leveling. Rear blade, box scraper, FEL....or something else....

Mike, it might depend on what you're leveling. If it's loose sand, soft dirt, or gravel, any of them work pretty well. If it's hard ground, I think the box blade works best to cut into it and move it around. At least for me, personally, the box blade is the most used.

I used to use my blade for leveling my driveway but I have to echo what Bird said. After doing my drive with the box blade Ill never use anything else again.

I have both a rear blade and a box blade. I find that the box blade is most useful--with one exception. When I have too much of a "crown" in my driveway or when part of the driveway is higher on one side than the other, I can change the angle of the blade to move the gravel from one side to another.

Another issue that hasn't been mentioned is "what if I can only afford one?" I'm not sure I know the answer but I think the question has has merit. The standard rear blade could be considered more versatile. If you get a nice one it will twist, tilt, angle, swing out etc etc. It also is great for snow removal. If you plan do do a lot of leveling virgin ground and rough territory, nothing beats a box blade. If your need for that is a one time thing, you may find a rear blade more versatile. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

mike; depends on what u want to level and how fine u want to level it. the box blade is by far the better for more precise leveling, but a rear blade is more versitle, i use my rear blade for leveling and snow removal(at times) idealy have both. do i wish i had a box ? oh yes. but which one do U think would be more benefical to U?

Mike,

I see from your earlier post that you were also considering the JD 4100. What made you finally decide on the 7500?
