rear axle for a 451

I broke the drive shaft coupling that has a cotter pin that keeps the shaft from moving to far back. I got it out. when I put it back where does the holes go. the hole are not in a straight line. does the movable shaft move any or alittle. I pulled the shaft out to get the broken coupler out.:confused2:

Holes won't matter. They're just there for the cotter pin to go in.
