Chris,

Given that you write very detailed GM fault posts....Figured I'd throw this out there in good fun..Just sayin':D...

Just a mild counter to the anti-GM posts.

I don't doubt that a Titan is a fine truck, but bias can be found anywhere.

Not so hot buy's from YAHOO Auto...Not that they are the experts, but...

6. Nissan Titan

Nissan痴 full-size pickup truck never caught on with U.S. buyers, who tend to be fiercely loyal to their favorite domestic brands. Its model line isn稚 as diverse as the competition, and it lags behind all of them in terms of performance. On the bright side, it痴 sold with hefty cash rebates.

The Titan gets 澱elow average ratings from J.D. Power & Associates for both Initial Quality and Reliability, and gets only a arginal rating for side-impact protection with 殿cceptable rollover prevention from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It also receives the lowest available ranking for depreciation from Automotive Lease Guide and gets oor to 礎elow average value scores (depending on the version) from Intellichoice.com.

Yes it can.

There will never be another GM product in my household.

That statement is in light of all the 'developements' of GM, the UAW, and the government(with respect to my money).

And I would like to emphasize.............."my money"

I will push a Nissan, Toyota..........oe even a Datsun, before I purchase a GM product.

JMHO

Until the sale of Chrysler, the next gen Titan was going to be a re badged Dodge, that's how well Nissan pulled that one off. Instead they carry on with a way outdated platform, not much variety, poor fuel economy and questionable at best, styling.

I liked the Silverado but because of GM's history of accepting bailout money and billions we will never be recoup, I instead bought a 2011 F-150 Ecoboost.

And by the looks of doing a lot of highway driving and seeing all the new Ford trucks, there are lots of others who feel the same.

I fail to see how buying a foreign owned brand that benefits Japan profit wise, is somehow better for the country than buying a brand that was bailed out with taxpayer money. It's like shooting your foot because your pissed off that you stubbed your toe.
Government ownership was down to about 25% after the November 2010 stock sale, not sure if more has been sold yet. But soon the company will be free of government ownership. This was not the way I would like to see things done, but like Harley Davidson and many others, it was overall better to save the jobs than hope they somehow got spread to other U.S, companies.

Through April total sales of trucks was about 190,000 for Ford and about 180,000 for GM, similar percentage to recent history. GM's are wt the end of their platform run and new product will be hitting the market over the next 12 months, newer product always boosts one company for a while, then the others catch up.

Not really taking sides and not speaking of anyone in this post, but ....

I would be willing to bet that a LOT of nay sayers about the GM / Government bailout would sound differently if GM had just went bankrupt and dissolved totally.

Probably a majority of those nay sayers would be saying stuff like:

"Why didn't our Government step in and protect U.S. jobs?"

"Look at those darn foreign imports / rice burners / "other brands" that forced GM out of existence!"

"Why didn't blah blah blah "

Just like trying to get every voter in the U.S. to vote for 1 person, ......it will never happen.

People are funny.

Some people like to stir pots.

Some people just cannot process events / actions.

and some people are wishy washy. They say what they think you want to hear.

And some people will agree with another because they cannot or will not find / know the facts and their friend "sounds" like they know what they are talking about

and maybe in this case, just because the Government did act, people are upset because it was "the Government" who in their eyes never does anything right (or the way they want it).

You cannot please everyone all the time

Well, that is all in fine. My 08 Titan pulls every week, sometimes as much as 10,000#, has 48,000 miles on it, and has never been in for a single repair. Not even a light bulb.
