I went to the dealer today to actually see one in person. Drove it around the lot a bit. Is there anything I need to inquire about before I pull the trigger? I am set right now to purchase the week after next, while we are on vacation.

I've spend the last few months learning and reading and asking questions about this unit, and now the time has finally come. Today was the first time I actually saw one in person, it was a bit bigger then I had thought it would be. 5 minutes into driving it around the lot and it felt quite comfortable.

I know there is an issue with fender cracking, and making sure fluids are topped off at time of delivery, is there anything in particular I should be looking at otherwise? Dealer is only 20 minutes away, and is $300-400 more then the next closest, which is really not that close.

They seem like decent folks so I don't have any reservations about them, other then the tractors appear to have sat outside for some time, and the paint looks a tad faded. They did have one other with turf tires that may be a little cleaner. I figure if you're dropping this kind of cash on a tractor it should at least look good, after all it will be in the garage at it's new home here :), and I do take very good care of my stuff. Especially $17,600 stuff.

Great choice.

I think you should request a shiny, new, factory clean tractor especially given its forth coming home [indoors] and your intentions to keep it looking as nice as possible. I agree with you 100%. For $17,600, you should be assuming ownership of something that brings a huge smile to your face. Clearly, that is not the case given that you already see the paint as a bit faded.

Only my opinion ...

Best Wishes - Enjoy your BX24!

The paint issue does kind of bother me. I'm wondering how long the units have been sitting around. The tractor alone is $16,100, then add $1500 for the 54" MMM. A bit more then I had been quoted at other places; they are close though if I need warranty work...otherwise I do all of my own maintenance.

I just think this is something that will *stay* with you if you settle for a new tractor that doesn't look immaculate. Pride of ownership is so much of the enjoyment [aside from the amazing work these tractors can accomplish].

If it were me, I would want a brand new, shiny tractor if I were buying new.

If you walk away because of the fade, one thing will happen for sure. In the end at this dealership or at another one, you'll get a shiny new BX24.

Best of Luck!

Cosmetic issues aside, be sure you get one that is new enough to have the improved, reinforced fenders if they're available.

Oh, don't worry, I have a list of items I'll be checking now thanks to this forum. I just called another dealer that is only a short distance away, and the price was $700 less on the tractor....needless to say I think I'll be stopping there. Short of any horrible looking equipment I'll be buying from them.

MOPAULY, Go ahead and ask the closer dealer about a crisp new one and matching the price. If he's a good dealer he might work somethig out. But get the shiney one.

Please let me know the general area and the price you paid if you don't mind. I am lloking for the same BX24, FEL, BH and a 54" belly mower. The best I found is in Dunn, NC cool_season_new

Also double check with the dealer if the seat recall issue has been taken care on whichever tractor you choose - particularly if it has been sitting in the dealers inventory for any period of time.

A block heater if your going to use it in the winter.

This is completely optional depending on who you ask but it's less than $100.
