Kubota L3130 HST
I have been looking and gathering information and prices over the past couple of months and I am now ready to purchase a Kubota L3130. I have been using my neighbor's L3830 GST mowing the past couple of months, so I know what I'm getting. My question is this, I have been quoted the L3130 GST for $13,700 and the L3130 HST for $14,100. My wife will be using the tractor helping me out mowing at different times, so is it worth the extra $400 for the HST over the GST?

I will also include in the package a LA513 FEL and pallet forks with the skid steer quick hitch as well.

Thanks.

If both tractors are at the same dealer, why not take your wife over there and let her decide by trying out each one? Sounds like it doesn't make much difference to you. And she might think so much of your letting her decide, she might just agree to buy an extra attachment or two! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It definitely would be for me; maybe not for someone else.

I have the L3130HST and love it but I agree let your wife help decide. I do recommend strongly that you go with the LA723 loader with the quick attach. I have it and it is worth the extra dollars. Also the LA513 will impact adding a backhoe if you want that in the future. I had one dealer resist selling me the LA723 with the L3130HST so I went to another dealer - no problems.

You will really love using the L3130.

Let me LOUDLY second the 723 loader...the dealer talked me into putting the 513 on my L3430...he had it back that week to change to the 723 I wanted in the first place....

That 513 wouldn't lift the hat off a bald man's well greased head /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

My personal opinion...YMMV

I agree with Garry that you should get your wife's input. My wife doesn't want to have anything to do with my tractor, so I was free to get a GST. I'm used to electronic powershift transmissions from machines I've driven at work, so the only thing I really have to remember is to keep my right leg from twitching when I want to change direction.

I have the L3130 HST and notice it bogging down a little when brush hogging and going up a slight grade. I either ease off the cruise control or bump the throttle up. I often wonder if I would have the same situation with a gear drive at the same speed. When it comes time to plow snow (something I'm assuming you don't do in GA) there's no way I would be without the HST, but it's what I'm used to.
I also have the 513 FEL and haven't had a problem with it yet, but I'm just moving around gravel and such. I haven't tried to lift a hat off of anybody's head /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Especially considering that you want to use a pallet fork, you need to look at the LA723 loader. You'll need all the lifting capacity you can get.

Add mine to the votes for the 723, and I second the quick release for the bucket. I didn't get one and have regretted it.

Re: the HST.. remember that pedal is actually a "gear shift".. (the throttle is on the steering column). It took me a while to figure out that when it bogs down you don't push the pedal further.. you ease back.. Same as you wouldn't UPshift while bogging down on a hill.. you downshift.

PS.. it's true that if you want the BH-90 backhoe later.. you'll have to have the 723 first. It's because the backhoe subframe integrates with the heavier 723 subframe.
