Ready to buy 4310

A local JD dealer is offering me a 4310 4wd w/430 FEL, 12/12 Gear drive w/power Reverser, R4s, Dual Mid SCV, Hood Guard, Bucket Level Ind, LX5, 6ft Frontier Box Blade for $19,778 Total price. From what I've read it's not a bad price considering tax is over $800 putting the cost of the tractor below 19k. Any opinions will be appreciated and if anyone thinks I have room to neg. please let me know. I've looked at JD, NH, Kubota, Kioti, Long, Branson and the dreaded Chinese Tractors and I have to say JD wins but NH and Branson hold a fairly close second. The Branson uses the 45hp Yanmar 4cyl and is a solid tractor with loader for $16,900 but I really worry about parts. Thoughts or opinions are encouraged.

Thanks for the reply. I've been looking at the JD for over a month and made 4 trips to the dealer to drive the thing around the lot. I'm sure the salesman is tired of me. I like the NH but I'm planning on 30yrs owning this tractor and want to make the right decission. I have 11 acres mostly wooded but have about 2 acres of scrub brush and would like to take that down with the cutter.

I went through the same thing you are doing now, looked at most of the same tractors manf. you have and came up with the same conculsion you did.

I didn't care about resale as I only plan on doing this once and I hope the 790 I bought will last as long as do, and I felt better about parts for the long term with John Deere than with anybody else and being JD's price was lower than all the others didn't hurt any /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Look as if you getting a fair deal with what you listed, take it and don't look back.

This is a very competitively priced package. JD has one of the best parts supply networks in the business. It's likely if you ever needed a part for the 4310 thirty years from now, JD will still be there making that part. I don't think you could go wrong with this deal.

I appreciate my 4310 more every time I use it. Some minor difficulties, but I feel that I made the right choice after lots of research. I'm approaching 200 hours and have not regretted my tractor choice. Go for it!

What type of problems? I can't imagine having many with a JD.

I have top and tilt. The tilt "leaks" and has to be adjusted constantly. This has started to happen with the loader bucket, as well. Next service, I'll have them diagnose -- I'm pretty ignorant, but there is possibility of a valve in the system leaking. That said, the top and tilt needs an engineering revamp -- Midwest is working on a solution for CUTs. I'm hoping JD will come up with something and contact me. Still, a great tractor.

I'm really happy with the Top-N-Tilt on my 4310. If you don't mind, I'm curious to know what kind of engineering revamp would you like to see on it.

I've had trouble with hoses continually coming loose and spraying hydraullic fluid, but the main concern is the "leaking" -- I can't set the angle of either top or tilt and "forget it." Makes turning around constantly a necessity.

I'm glad I got it on the tractor; just not sure they had the bugs worked out on the "new" model. One mechanic suggested that the number of hydraul. available was almost too much for the tractor. I wouldn't trade my 4in1 bucket for anything, however.
