Terramite T5C
Just stopping by to greet everyone; hoping all are safe and staying warm. I continue to be amazed at the Terramite; if I had life to do over, I'd do without lots of stuff to buy one early. Just read the article they sent through about getting your tractor ready for winter. Ha; in the end of January? What was I thinking? It's darn cold here in CT. but I decided to do what I could. Battery said 6/09 but she started up and ran for half an hour smooth. I put in an ounce of StaBil - gas engine; removed the battery to warm cellar and will charge it up. As we all say . . . next year's gonna be different. Anybody got a barn they're not using? Beside the regular maintenance - which I'm careful about - if I missed something I could do, add a reply. Thanks

The weather has been kind of crazy here this year. 10 below in November then staying up in the 40's during December. January started off with some 30 below wind chills and now we have been back in the 30's It's been up and down all winter so far. I do about the same thing as you with the terramite for the winter, I do spray some WD-40 on the exposed chrome cylinder rods to keep them from rusting from moisture. I too wish I would have invested in one much earlier then I did. Stay Warm and let's hope for a early spring.

Hey Terrasteve you're right about what this crazy weather can do, not only to your tractor but to your brain. I was working on a reply to your note above asking whatever kind of engine do you have with chrome cylinder rods . . . better get right out there with the WD40 and see if my engine has 'em too. Then it hit me! Oh well. Like you said, stay warm. I have an old Riteway stove that was made by the same kind of genius that made the Terramite; steady work, 40 years, no complaint. Stuff made today wouldn't know a thing about it.

LOL, after rereading my post I should have worded that a little differently. I know what you mean about the new stuff, I have an old 1965 wheel horse garden tractor that my late grandfather passed down to me, that I use to plow the drive out with. Still starts and runs like the day it was made. My neighbor bought a new craftsman garden tractor a few years back and is amazed at how much more snow the old wheel horse will push compared to his new one. That is when he can get his to start.LOL

Yes, a guy on my street (who actually is an excellent mechanic) just bought a new [popular make] with all the bells and whistles.
When he saw my Terramite I think he was shocked at how much beefier the cylinders are than his. I asked him for help
with the differential which was the one thing not right when we got it. He rebuilt it to like new in his shop for me. Later
he said I was amazed when I saw you have a regular Dana 44 truck transmission in that thing; mine looks like a toy
beside it.
