Wondering if anyone has the type/model of alternator that can be installed on my Ford 2000 or 3000 diesel. I'm tired of jumping it off everytime. It is a diesel, therefore not sure of the RPM's needed to charge battery. I'm sure some of yaw have done this job and could get me going in the right direction.
If anyone has the mounting bracket dimensions/specifications I would sure appreciate a copy of them so I can start fabricating them. I appreciate the help and feedback.

correct generator is less than 100$.. correct vreg is 25-40 depending upon model... might need either.. or both.. or neither... do some checking first.

generally, the tach is driven off the genny unless it has been relocated.

if not relocated.. you'd have to get an alternator with a tach drive.. 10DN is a common one.. though I have seen 10SI kits ( both delco ).. price is enough you could buy a FEW generators to keep as spares!!!!

if you didn't care about a tach.. a 29$ autozone delco 10SI 3 wire job will fit.. use the dash lamp to turn on #1 spade termoinal.. jump #2 spade to charge stud, and hook charge lug to the battery or hot side of solenoid.. or the bat line that goes to the reg..

if you go that way.. you can het a bracket kit.. but really.. a bit of metal scraps and a torch / welder and you can surely make your own using the pre-existing genny mount as a base to start off of.

unless you have electrical needs in regular excess of 20a.. id get the oem genny system working...

start with a motor test on the genny.. if it passes.. lets look at the reg.

if genny don't pass, rebuild or repop.. both are 100$ or less.

just get a one wire altenator the brakets on the tractor will work with the altenator

but if the tractor in the pictures is suppost to be a 5000 im sorry to tell you it isn't its a 2000/3000

Guess its a good thing I've had this tractor for five years and don't know the model of it. Tells u that there hasn't been any issues that required parts that a model # was needed

yea its the same genny and vreg but i just thought you should now any major parts will be different between the two models

i'd still go 3 wire. almost ALWAYS cheaper than a 1 wire.. and turn on to charge faster.. and less quiescent current drain when off.

that said.. I'd fix the genny setup.

same genny/vreg on the 2000/3000/4000/5000

i agree about the three wire thats what i do but its simple for most people to hook up a 1 wire

in actuality, a 3 wire is really only 1 more wire to hookup than a 1 wire, as the 2nd wire is just a 2" loop.

really.. if someone can install an alt and that last wire run thru a marker lamp to the ignition dooms the procedure.. they needed help to begin with.. :)
