Kioti DK45se HST - Rhino 660 4X4 - Snapper Pro ZTR - Craftsmen Chipper/Vac
Dang, you guys are too good as salesmen! Anyway as I mentioned in a post by another member looking into purchasing a new tractor, I stopped by the local Kioti dealer and was given a price of 19K for a DK 40 se HST. I know from reading posts by many of you that have been down this road that the choice of a tractor is more about the dealer, which drive experience seems to fit your personal tastes the best, and of course, the $$$ you can spend.

I took the time today to visit both the Green guys and the other Orange guys. Here is a couple of thoughts and observations which may or may not be valid.

The other Orange Experience - I was given the price by a nice young man whom basically let me look at his tractor, told me the price and said there was a 1K discount for cash, and said give him a ring if I had any questions. The tractor was a L3940HST with loader and price was 27K

Impressions I don't like the rocker HST- I'm sure I could get comfortable with it, but why not just get two pedals. The back lower arms were adjustable, but I don't think you could operate the PTO from the back. I wasn't offered a chance to try one, so I can't comment on that. It was lunch time so maybe I went at a bad time.

The Green Experience The price for the 4105 HST, FEL, and 3rd valve function for a grapple, and R4 tires was actually about the same as the Kioti 24K. I'm just not sure that I should be comparing the 4105 or the 4120 to get a proper comparison. They did not have a 4105 or 4120 on the lot, so what I looked at was a 4100, and the next size down equivalent JD to see how the tractor was set up for seating, instruments and the dual pedals.
The salesman was nice enough, but he really needed to ditch the spit cup while we talked. Maybe I'm just being picky on that though. I asked him to "Sell me why the Green was better than Orange and he said- "Because it's a John Deere". I said, okay, I figured that out, but why is it better. Without going into details, there was no real answer to this question other than his first statement.

Impressions the rear end links just don't look very strong, there is no front end guard, and it just didn't seem as rugged as either of the orange tractors.
When I asked about the length of the warranties, the answer was you can't get the work done if the dealer is out of business or won't honor the warranty. True I guess.

At this point, I'm waiting to hear from the Kioti folks on what they will give me for my OUTSTANDING LOW HOURS BEAST - The FARMTRAC 535 ( I told them about TBN, so it can't hurt to advertise right?), and what the 3rd valve and a Grapple are gonna set me back. I really did like driving the Kioti, but I gotta figure with cash in hand I should be able to maybe get a little better deal or at least a fair figure for my trade-in. I'll keep you posted, and wish me luck

We have a Deere dealer in Woodburn IN that is about the only Deere dealer that I have ever talked to that isnt full of themselves.
If I was ever going to go Deere, that is where I would go

I had to laugh at your comment about the spit cup. It amazes me how somebody expects me to believe them when they are spitting in a cup, covered with tattoos, or pierced everywhere imaginable. Somehow they think that their appearance is not a hindrance to their career - maybe people just do not appreciate their jobs enough to do what it takes to be good.

Well, the fella really was nice enough, and I think he just didn't even think about having the cup. He just seemed to be focused on looking up the numbers on his computer and the harder he was looking at his computer and checking his catalogs, the more the cup went up and down on the desk. It was almost like a nervous reaction that had me looking at the cup more than listening to what he had to say. I understand the nicotine habit- I'm stuggling to break that myself right now.

I bought my DK in May 2010. Researched for a long time. JD 4120 is a comparable unit to the DK 40. I also looked and tried the L3940. Loved it but didnt like the HST pedal...not comfortable at all for me to use.

The bota was $4500 to $6000 more and I didn't even try pricing the JD.

Got 191 hrs on my DK. Love it. See the attachments listed. No problems using any of them. Also use a KK II 72" tiller w/ no problem at all!

Warranty is excellent.

Are you getting the free loader program pricing in your quote?

Good luck!

Yes. Thanks for the info on the 4120, I thought so as the 4105 is 3 cylinder versus 4.

Well, things got a little muddier today on the Tractor purchase. I haven't heard back from the original dealer I spoke to about my trade-in. No big deal, but I am a little curious what the delay is.

Anyway, I had to "go East" from my place to the Coast and decided to stop at another Kioti dealer thats about 60 miles from me. I figure it couldn't hurt to comparision shop and see just how good the deal was.

To make it short, he is offering a DK45se with loader, turf tires, 3rd valve and setup already factory installed, and sells Grapples (several types on site) for $20.900. I may be looking at this wrong, but having the 3rd valve already on the Tractor, the better tires, and difference in HP for a little over $1500 difference seems like a better deal. My guess is that the cost of installing the 3rd valve and tires on the original Kioti I looked at would easily be that much.

I did mention to him my concern of having to get the tractor moved 60 miles for servicing versus 30 miles. He said he could'nt promise to come by to service, although he did travel between his place of Business to Ocala (you go by my closest main road to make that trip) frequently, but there would be no problem adding a no-charge use of one of their trailers when needed. It would mean some extra driving, but hopefully the Tractor doesn't need to get shop serviced that often.

So, we'll see. If they come back with a fair offer for my FarmTrac, I'm going to go for it. One advantage for sure is that the Grapple is already there and ready to go. I hope one of these folks responses on my trade-in :confused2:

Good luck Doug, We would love to have you join the Pack. We love to hash things out and we even get to learn something new occasionally. A friend of mine has a 535 like yours. Front axle bearings keep going out. I think I have him ready to buy a Kioti. Hope you do too!

Good luck. Yes TBN is very expensive. I went in looking for a $13,000.00 special, but knew from reading on TBN I might not be satisfied. Ended up almost $18,000 out the door!

Yup, an affliction worse than crack. Junior Brown should write a song about it along the lines of Semi Crazy. Could call it Gear Queer, but that has connotations.
