Re: Online Wix Filters

I have found a filter source for my 2005 JM 454 and my automobiles. Hydraulic spin on JM#JX0811A (Wix 51553), Fuel spin on JM#CX7085 (Wix 33195). Excellent Prices! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Apparently there is no Wix Oil filter replacement, yet, for the JX85100C. Anybody have another manufacture number for the oil or air filter? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Here is the site.........
http://www.fleetfilter.com/

Also, I have a new JX 85100A oil filter I got with my tractor I will never use. It must be for the smaller engines. It came with a plastic cover but, not in a box so, I asssume it is clean.
If someone wants it, send me a private message and I will send it for just postage. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Happy 2006

Re: Online Wix Filters

camman12, The WIX site has been good to me also. A little food for thought,

Wix 51553 = 33 micro
Wix 51614 = 141 micro

Both should work... I like the 141 best

Do you know if the thread pitch on the JX85100C is 1-12 ?

Have not sold a 454 yet

Re: Online Wix Filters

Ronald,
The JX85100C has a ( edit: 22mm NoT! 14mm /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif) inlet while the JX85100A is smaller. I am not sure of the pitch. I read somewhere the metric 14mm thread pitch was 1.75mm.
Wouldn't the 33 micro catch more debris than the 141 micro?

Re: Online Wix Filters

Hi and yes camman12, The 33 micro would catch more debri. The Wix 51551 is a 10 micro [I think?]

Guess I should have said a little more about the 141 micro.

My thinking is that if the Hyd. reservoir starts out clean and I keep it clean [change filter & hyd oil timely] a 141 micro will help increase my odds of the pump not starveing for oil on start up. Hyd pumps love oil and quit quick when they don't get it. The 33 will probably do fine .... I would not be afraid to use it. Also, having a separate hyd oil sump does not allow metal from gears to get in the hydraulics.

It would be best to take a reading on the thread pitch.....could be 1.75 or........??

Re: Online Wix Filters

Remember though...a smaller (tighter) filter will clog up quicker. And when the pressure gets too high (due to being clogged) it will begin to bypass and THEN it's like not having a filter at all.

But none of US have to worry about that since we religiously change fluids/filters.

So, the question is: What is the largest particle size that won't affect the pump and any internals negatively. If that is 200 microns then a 141 micron filter is more than adequate AND will go longer before any chance of going into bypass. If it's 50 or 100 microns then the 33 is the better choice.

Does anyone have any REAL numbers for this? What exactly can a hydraulic pump, seals, or for that matter a diesel engine take as far as particle size before potential damage occurs? Just for information, a red blood cell is about 80 microns. A micron is VERY small... Lets just say that ANYTHING you can see in the oil is HUGE.

Anyone know?

Re: Online Wix Filters

Ronald,

Found my old filter and double checked using ruler. I measured the JX85100C as having a 22mm opening with a 2mm pitch. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
My plan is to change hydro along with other fluids regularly, too. With filters and fluid so inexpensive, no reason not to!

joerocker, 10-4 on the if you can see it being huge!

Talking about pump hyd problems.... if the filter/screen did not catch the trash before it entered the pump ..... then it will try and pass/sucked through the pump. If it made it through the pump......that means it had to go through the pump gears. I think it would have to be really small to pass through the pump. So I think if the hyd problem I was having that was due to trash...then it picked it up after it left the pump.?...just a thought process.

Partical size... I have no idea ??

camman12, You could call the Wix 1-800 with filter in hand and give them the spec's to see if they have one? .... if they don't ...Baldwin Filters. ?

Re: Online Wix Filters

Ronald,
Won't need oil filters for awhile since I went ahead and purchase a couple recently. But, the time will come when I deplete my reserve. I will keep that info in mind.
If you read this gentlemans' opinion, even having a suction filter is trouble /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: Online Wix Filters

The oil filter is unique you can buy replacements from the importers for about $14 plus shipping or change the filter threads. I had mine machined to use 3/4 screw on filters like most other small Diesels some thing like the wix51515. You must remove the threaded pipe from the filter base and get a 3/4 thread pipe to go into it. Really very easy and cost me $10. I posted this information sometime last summer if you want to read the details.
You may find filters that match the dimensions and thread but they are for hydraulics and cost $35 or more each.
This is a unique thread and pitch that should be replaced.
