Re: Honda Compact Tractors H6522

My H6522 will not move properly. We have installed a new clutch and the hydraulic is putting out 106lbs. The manual spec is between 105 and 115. Does anyone know what the problem is?

When you mean 'it won't move properly' could you elaborate? The H6522 was a 3 speed manual with a 3 speed powershift, right?

Re: Honda Compact Tractors H6522

hi,
Same for me: when the tractor don't run during a while,it will not move. I have to start it; stop and wait few minutes and after restart it will move. I think it's because some air bubbles in the oil and the pressure is too low to push the hydraulic clutch.
It means that there is an internal leak somewhere but where?
You find the trouble?
Thank you.
Cheers

Did you check the oil pressure?

Re: Honda Compact Tractors H6522

no I didn't but I'm sure that the air drain is the problem. I don't know why the air is inside the circuit....Maybe the lip seal of the hydraulic pump?

I know this is an old thread, but there are very few people who have Honda 6522s. I had a similar issue and rebuilt my hydraulic pump, replaced the rubber feed hose to the pump and all of the "O" rings from the feed side, it did not solve the problem. I also checked to make sure that the transmission gates of the shifter are in sync with the detents in the transmission arm under the tractor, once again no change. The symptoms I get are when the tractor is started and pressurizes when in neutral (the automatic transmission) the hydraulics shutter (jitter up or down) in both the loader and the 3pt. It also will not move in reverse when shifted. I have found that if I start the tractor and immediately shift it into 1st (automatic transmission) and let the system pressurize in 1st there are no issues. It has the issue with or without the loader attached. My guess is that there is a hydraulic check valve associated with the neutral gear that fails. I do not think that it is worth attempting to fix. The check valve is likely buried in the valve body of the automatic transmission and with parts getting scarce and very expensive it would be risky to attempt to repair it. All of the Honda 6522s were built in 1991 and sold for several years. I bought my tractor from the original owner at 310 hrs and currently has 440 hrs so this issue is unlikely due to wear and more likely associated with corrosion or component fatigue if it is something rubber or plastic. I have a copy of the Honda shop manual for the tractor and it does not discus this as an issue and looking through all of exploded parts diagrams of the transmission I have been unable to figure out what the issue could be.

I would like to hear from some of the rest of you with the 6522 about if you have solved your issues or if my suggestion has helped. There is so little information on these great, rare, and quickly become classic tractors we need to post the info for the betterment of the group.

Re: Honda Compact Tractors H6522

The only other issue i have had with the tractor is I started her to warm it up and when I came back a few minutes later she was not running. If a diesel has fuel and stops it is generally not good. When I would attempt to restart it there was no smoke, this generally means that their is not fuel in the system, looking at the fuel filter confirmed this. Initially I thought it was the lift pump under the seat, but when I jumped that with a 12v source it would run and so would the tractor. It turns out that under the dash there is a computer board that fails. When I would flex the board it would run the lift pump correctly. Fortunately the board was still available and fairly inexpensive.

Do you have part numbers for the computer board you replaced? When looking at parts diagrams I see two things called a switch relay? Is that the part? Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks.
