Kubota B7610,
I have a rattle on the deflector chute on my Kubota MMM. There is a bolt on the deflector that rests against the mower deck and rattles like heck on anything other than very smooth surface. I really see no use for this bolt. Are there any owners out there with the same bolt, and is there suppose to be a rubber stop between deflector and the deck. I perhaps should go to a dealer and see what therre is on a new one. But, that's what we are here for... Any help will be appreciated.

Trap: My RCK60-24B came with a shipping bolt that my dealer forgot to remove. The bolt held the deflector chute to the MMM deck. Try lifting the chute up. It should move without much effort. If it doesn't move, remove the bolt and try again. Good Luck! :)

Rusty, thanks for the thought, bolt is in the deflector but not in the deck. Really not doing anything. Perhaps you were right, something left on from crating/shipping. I stoped at a dealer yesterday to look at one on the lot. There was the hole but nothing in it. I'm thinking maybe a rubber plug of sorts in the hole would help with bounce noise or just taking the bolt out!-thanks

When I got my bx there was a bolt in the bag along with paperwork. The bolt is used to lock the chute down so it won't bounce around over bumps and make a banging noise. Installing the bolt is your option only if the noise bothers you. The bolt goes threw the chute and the deck.

The bolt is a safety feature that is installed so you can't lift the chute and get hurt. It is my guess that the liability lawyers felt that it is good protection for the manufacturer. If you get hurt because you lifted the deflector, then the bolt had been removed and there defense will be that you tampered with a safety feature. We all have our own level of safety that we are comfortable with. I have removed the bolt from my MMM deck. I also know not to ever put my hands anywhere near the edges of the deck or chute. When I die, I want all my original parts to go with me to the grave. I don't want to leave any fingers on the lawn.

Another option besides bolting it down is to pick up the rubber deflector that comes with the new BX's. I'm sure it'd work with your deck. My BX2200 deck was incredibly noisy from the deflector and the belt covers, but the new ones have a type of rubber/plastic covers that are flexible enough that they dont break if you run into anything but are extremely quiet...no vibration sounds at all.
