Rant about Dealer\'s Stickers

Why to the tractor dealers love to place their commercial advertisements all over our tractors? (Old or new!) I can understand one or two discretely placed reminders where I can get service but are eight huge stickers necessary? (Both sides of hood, both sides of FEL arms, left and right rear fenders, both sides of rear boxblade.) These things are not small but huge reflective scars measuring 3x5 inches. After taker a heat gun and carefully removing six of these nasty stickers I notice another new one after some routine maintenance was done. Why do dealer feel we are obligated to be rolling billboards for them? ... Sorry...rant over.

Re: Rant about Dealer\'s Stickers

The only thing that says who my dealer was is the key tag. I don't think putting stickers all over is standard operating procedure at most shops. Perhaps if you made them remove the stickers, they wouldn't be so quick to plant them next time.

Re: Rant about Dealer\'s Stickers

This defacing vehicles (tractors) seems to be regional.

My work has required me to travel around the US for many years. I have noticed on automobiles that many dealers on the East coast put their name plates on the trunk of the car. On the West coast it is a rare dealer that defaces the car by gluing a metal name plate on a car they have sold. The dividing line seems to be the rockies as I've seen some Colorado cars with metal labels.

My California Kubota dealer placed two stickers on my B7610, one on each loader arm. The stickers had small black lettering (on clear film) on the orange arms it was hard to find. I actually went looking for the stickers and at first thought there weren't any on the tractor. These are small and unobtrusive enough that I wasn't offended by their placement and left them on.

Whenever I buy a vehicle, I tell the dealer not to put any advertisment stickers on it. They always do and I make them take them off. I figure if they want to use my vehicle as a blllboard, they can pay to rent the space.

Re: Rant about Dealer\'s Stickers

You've got it. If they want to advertise on my property they have to pay me. I once refused to buy a new car bacause they said they had to put a metal dealer ad on it. Their excuse was so that they could identify the vehicle for warranty service ?? duhh, what is the serial number for ?
I said no go and bought the same model of vehicle cheaper at another dealer that did not suffer so badly from Cranial-****-Itis.

Re: Rant about Dealer\'s Stickers

All Right, so since we are on the subject, what is the best way to remove them? Mine came with four large reflective stickers. One on each loader arm and one on each side of the hood. CCKJONE said he used a heat gun which I am not wild about. Me and heat guns have done more than our share of damage. I remember reading a while ago that someone said the only real use for WD-40 was to remove the adhesive from stickers.

So what do you all use??

Re: Rant about Dealer\'s Stickers

I couldn't agree with you more. The first thing that I did was to remove them from my tractor once I took delivery. I don't like feeling like a traveling billboard for any dealer. I take them off my cars as well.

"what is the best way to remove them?"
Try using a hair dryer set on high, warm the sticker up and just lift a corner and pull it off. Remove the remaining adhesive with WD-40 or Goo Gone. Works for me.

Re: Rant about Dealer\'s Stickers

I don't feel it's wrong if the sticker is reasonably sized. I had a pretty good dealer experience when buying my tractor, and I don't begrudge him a little ad. The problem for me is when the sticker or logo gets so large that you see it first and then notice a car/tractor/etc. underneath it.

At TSC a few weeks ago, a guy had his Ford on a trailer in the parking lot and it had a dealer sticker on it that you could use as a tarp! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I guess it worked because I certainly registered the dealer name, but I would be one P.O'd owner if anybody ever stuck that blanket on my tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

As with most things, a little common sense would go a long way.

Re: Rant about Dealer\'s Stickers

My BX2200 was delivered with five 6 inch stickers. I sprayed them with WD40 and they peeled right off. I always tell new car dealers that I do not want stickers but I didn't think to tell the Kubota dealer.
