Ramp Door capacity

I have a carry-all 6x12 enclosed trailer with a rear ramp door. The capacity of the trailer is 3500#; but I am reasonably certain that the ramp/door does not have that much capacity. Would it be strong enough to run my JD 1025 up to load/unload attachments from within the trailer? Or could I run the front wheels up the ramp a bit...just enough to get the loader into the trailer to get a hold of items to get them in and out?

I can't seem to find any info on the weight capacity of the ramp...any help or insight would be appreciated.

Got a picture of the ramp? What kind of framing does it have internally? My neighbor loaded a rental Deere 3005 into his enclosed trailer one time, so his rear door/ramp would certainly handle a 1025R.

I know a landscape trailer with a mesh rear gate would have no problem handling a 1025R. So maybe you know how your rear door/ramp compares to a landscape trailer gate? I see some landscapers with enclosed trailers, and they run mowers in and out, same as they'd be doing on an open trailer with mesh gate.

When I got my enclosed trailer custom built I asked the same question. Its 5x10 with 3500# axle. The builder rated it at 2000# for the ramp.

I would feel reasonably confident to put my tractor in without the loader. It wouldn't fit with it because of length.

I think that you'll be able to put your tractor in. But keep in mind the heaviest part of your tractor is on the gate plus the loader's weight and than add the "package's" weight. All that on the small surface area of the front tires. All that to says I'd look for alternatives. Can you support the ramp along somehow to spread the load out?

Get a couple of 2x12 the length of the trailer. run your whatever up these. Call the trailer maker. I bet the rear door is very expensive to replace.

I doubt it. I have seen Hand Truck Wheels go through the door with a heavy load.

That door ramp is only a sheet of plywood and a metal skin.

I think I would add some extra metal where the wheels would pass.

I called one manufacturer and they said about 1800 lbs, but suggested to reinforce the door.

They also make a trailer door with supports ever 12 in for small tractors and such.

I saw my door being assemble as I was able to insulate my trailer myself during the building process. I know mine is reinforced with steel roughly where the tires would run. My side door is only plywood with metal skinned.

When I was racing I had a 26' 10k Haulmark enclosed trailer. After having a friend 'help' me load the car one evening I had to repair the door. The door was made out of 1"x2" .083 wall tubing. The aluminum skin was screwed to the outside and 5/8" plywood on the inside. It was able to handle the weight of a race car being loaded but I'm not sure how much more. Because some of the tubing was bent I replaced it all. No local sources had tubing that thin so I replaced it with 1/8".

Chances are it'll support the weight but you can always put down some 2x10s or 2x12s to add extra support. If you know how to weld it's actually pretty easy to repair the door if you bend it.
