Canopy Radio speakers

My question is I took the front and middle nuts and washers off the top of the canopy so I can get in there to work. The top still feels solid. Am I missing something here? Are there more bolts that need undone? I didn't want to pull on the top too forcefully for fear I would crack it. What do I need to do?

Just the 2 front nuts (behind the front cab lights) and the 2 on the side above the doors and the top should hinge up. There is a roof support rod zip tied inside the roof but I use a piece of plywood to block mine up.

Thanks George. I hate to admit this but I took the nuts off the very top of the cab. The painted blue nuts and rubber washers. I never would have got that open. Lol. I'll get it open now so I can finish up my job. Thanks again.

If I remember correctly you also have to unplug the front cab lights also before you lift. I relocated my lights to a light bar I made so I don't have to unplug them anymore.

Dont feel bad I took the blue ones off too. Solid as a rock. Then I studied it a bit and went to the front lights then the sides. Then it was a piece of cake. You do have to unplug the lights.

I was on an airport shuttle bus earlier this week. I noticed that some of the speakers were mounted in areas with little to no room behind. They had speaker spacer rings that made the speaker stand out 1" or so. I Googled these rings. Fairly inexpensive. I think one could use these to mount 6 1/2" speakers if you did not mind them extending down an inch. In a P series cab, this is not a problem.

Well, finished up the speakers today. As said in a prior post, not much room to get a couple of the washers and nuts on. Plus you have to deal with the pull of the speaker magnet. PITA but got it done. Got the wife to help me out which was needed. Turned out great and sound really good. Glad that's over though. I did notice one of the front work light brackets could stand to be repainted. I'll probably pull both of them off and give them a fresh coat of paint.

After I took delivery I noticed where each cab step bolts on there was a small amount of rust between the two metals. So I took the steps off and prepped and repainted the back of the step and the attachment location. After I let them dry a day or so I put them back on then I run a bead of black silicone down the seam. It can still breath from below so maybe it won't rust again.

Charles, that's a good alternative on the spacers.
