Tractor
Dont Have Yet, thats why I'm here. My Dad has a CRAFTSMAN LT1000 LAWN TRACTOR that I hate and is old. Its a 42" cut with and 16 HP. It takes all day to mow our yard.
I would like a Diesel and I dont want a Lawn tractor:thumbsup:, I want a bigger garden tractor or bigger Zero turn. I am sick of my dads Craftsman:mad: and want a Beastly Mower that will reduce my 2.2 acres to mere childs play, also I may use it to mow lawns since im doing that. I have 10000 to play with. Please let know what U recomend. I can get new or get a couple used ones to play with.

with 10k, look at a used BX series Kubota or a 2210 JohnDeere. the X700 series is nice too.

A ZTR would probably be the fastest machine for mowing, but you'd be limited to mowing.
If you have other tasks, Johndeere3720's suggestions point you in the right direction. Even a subCUT (such as Johndeere3720 suggested) would be somewhat quicker then your current mower as both the 2210 and BX2200 have larger mower decks.

What else will you be doing besides cutting grass?

well the nice man who lives next door is 57, has 15 acres. He has no family, his 1 son died in the gulf war and his wife left. So he lets me have the run of the place. I go get us loads of firewood the man has many bigger trees that have fallen and he just cuts it up with his chain and leaves it for me to come get when we need. we have really stressed that craftsman 1000. hehe. I will want a bigger cart though to handle more at a time. I have told my dad that were over working this mower, and he just says well it does it, dont it. Im like why should it have too. There are bigger machines available that are are made to do work. I would also maybe like to be able to get a snow blade for a bigger tractor, we have a big driveway and again a small snow blower that is doing to much.

well i would say if you want to mow lawns, it's gonna be hard to beat a good ZTR mower over a tractor because of efficiency, turning, and ruts in the yard. Otherwise a BX kubota or maybe a 2305 JD, or a Massey GC2300 series.

One thing to consider is that a 23 hp gas motor and a 23 hp diesel motor will do the same amount of work, the diesel will just cost more to own and repair. If you just need a prime mover and a mower, i would get a cheap 4x4 ranger pickup thats on its last legs and a ZTR mower for mowing. That being said, I totally understand the desire to have a real tractor. The only reason I got a tractor was for the front end loader and back blade to maintian the driveway, bushhog for 6 acres or so, and do work around the yard. It was certainly an expensive luxury, I still use my riding mower for a lot of chores where the tractor is too big/heavy/fuel thirsty.

Sounds like the BX series might work for you as well as the Deeres mentioned.

I have a John Deere 2305 at one location and a BX2660 at another; my preference is for the Kubota, but either will work. In your price range you should be able to find a good used BX, John Deere or one of the other top brands.

I have to disagree with the gas being more or less equal to a diesel in performance and cheaper to own as after many years of owning both, my experience across the board has been just the opposite.

Im an only child, my mom gets after my dad for raising me more like a son than a daughter. I had electric trains that i ran and and i would load them up with a loader. I watched football with my dad and action movies. But I am what I am, and now I want big boys toys.

If you are going to be mowing lawns for work, a ZT would beat a tractor any day.
