This year I decided to risk not putting up rabbit fence around my garden because I expanded the size and would not have made it around anyway without getting more fence. Big mistake! What were nice big bean leaves yesterday are now just 5 inch green sticks out of the ground. Is there any way besides fence to keep them buggers away?

Try sprinkling blood meal fertilizer all the way around the perimeter of the garden; don't water it. That seems to work until after the next rain.

I had good luck when I was a kid by planting garlic around the perimeter of the garden.

Only problem is it has a tendancy to keep coming back every year......and spreading.

Donman,
We had rabbit problems at our old house. We kept them at bay with human and dog hair. I collected hair from the dogs' brushes and from my wife's brush. I spread it on the perimeter and it worked. Of course having the dogs around didn't hurt either.

Our yellow lab just loves going out in the back yard and she would find eveyone of them rabbit nest and eat the babies. After two years of this we don't see rabbits anymore and I don't think she has found any lately.

My wife had me sneak out to the garden with my grandfathers 12 guage dbl barrel............really effective till my kids got to be old enough to see what I was doing.............. now we have a 2 strand elec. fence with a 12 volt batt powered fencer keepen 'em out so far, tho I miss the target practice !! Their relatives(bunnies) never seem to learn !!

I just bought two of these motion activated sprinklers. They do a great job of scaring off racoons and cats. Check it out . . . Scarecrow

They have some other animal control items at their site.

I think it would be funny to have your driveway/walkway lined w/ those.. then invite all your relatives/neighbors over! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, to tell the truth, I have lured a few unsuspecting victims into the 'zone.' /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
