I've had this Bolens HT-23 for about 20 years now (Might have been new in the 70s, IDK) Kohler K series opposed twin 23 HP engine
With the muffler it came with, ( I traded a CT-90 Honda motorbike for it) I could tell when it was at full power by the authoritative BARK emanating from the exhaust. Years ago, a "shorty" muffler was added to the outlet . That sort of toned down the bark, but er...ummm... not really.
So the other day I went on line and looked for "real mufflers"! ;-)
1 1/2 inch inlet with not too much bulk so as not to foul the hood... and about 24 inches length..
Well, the local O'Riellys matched the Rock Auto internet price of $22 and got the muffler in the next morning. It took me about an hour to make the swap. I had to turn up a union to fit the manifold outlet.
Question:
Now I can't tell if I have the hand throttle pulled all the way out because the bark is gone. Should I be worried? ;-)
