I wonder how many use a blow drier to get the chills out after tractor work on a cold day? I have no cab and no wood stove to side up to so this is my best idea. Any other ideas out there?

Soak in the hot bath tub- with all of the above except the dog.

Before I cot my cab I used a heat gun on the low setting. It warmed my hands and melted the ice from my whiskers at the same time.

Yes but I bet you never stuck it in your shirt like I do with my blow drier.

 You're right, but that part of me doesn't get cold. Just my fingers and toes get cold.

Try to avoid getting cold in the first place. I don't get cold very easily. A pair of good long underwear that wicks moisture away is key. Then a pair of sweat pants or pajama pants. A t-shirt over the long underwear. A sweat shirt over that. One pair of good socks. My Carhart coveralls. A pair of warm gloves or mittens. Good boots with removable (and hence, dryable) liners. A thin full face mask hat and a thick hat on that and I'm gonna be peeling it off as I start working outside.

If I'm going ice fishing and sitting instead of moving, I might throw a hooded sweatshirt on over the sweatshirt and an oversized Carhart jacket over that. But really, with that setup I'm good for hours out in 0F weather.

A face mask can make a HUGE impact on how warm you stay. Your exhale warms it and that pre-heats your inhale. Unbelievable feeling of warmth compared to raw cold air.

The key is to use good underwear that wicks moisture away, and then many loose layers over that. Nothing too constricting or it cuts off your circulation. If you feel yourself starting to sweat, remove a layer or two.

However, if you do get cold, warm up some apple cider in a shallow pan, put in a small cinnamon stick and simmer. Once its hot, pour into a tall ceramic coffee mug, drop in two shots of apple barrel schnaaps, sit back and enjoy! :licking:

I haven't installed these yet, but I found a heated seat cover and cigarette lighter socket on amazon that I plan on hooking up. I figure if I can help keep my core warm, then it will make those days when I have to plow a little nicer.

I have two of those propane heaters that mount on a 20 pound cylinder. I light one and stand next to it to warm up. I also use them in my deer stands which are really 6'x8' box stands for hiding from the rest of the world during deer season, squirrel season, turkey season, garden season, lawn mowing season, leaf raking season, house painting season, dish washing season and just about any other season except striped bass season during which I hide elsewhere:drink:

I just put on my leather snowmobile suit over my Tshirt & pants. -20F no problem ,even in the wind . But then growing up in central Ontario ? -40F was kind of normal January temps when I was younger. Kind a used to it !
