I have an L5740 Cab and have been deliberating between a quick hitch, Pats or swapping out my link ends for Euro hooks. I've read many threads discussing the pros and cons.
Pats and the Euro hooks are certainly the most versatile in terms of fitting "anything". Pats are a non starter for me, they look lunky and extend the distance of the lower arms. If I go this direction it would be welding on Euro links to the lower arms and hyd top link. However, I don't see them saving that much time over connecting the typical ball ends. You still have to try to set the width of the lower links in order to just back up lift and hook. Does the little spreader bar that comes with the Pats system work well? I guess once you've hooked everything up once, you can mark your widths on the spreader bar, for each implement.
Then you still have to connect the top link. I have a hydraulic top link, and the control lever in the cab is not reachable while trying to put the pin through the top link, which requires adjusting, walking back, adjusting etc (for heavy implements).
I also realize that modifying implements to make sure they all fit the quick hitch requires / time / effort / cost as well. However once everything is setup, it seem like the quick hitch is WAY faster to hook up implements, especially with a hydraulic top link. Back up, tilt, lift, click and go (or hop out and connect the PTO, then go).
Looking for feedback from those that have used both Euro hooks or Pats system, and have also used a quick hitch to speak on both approaches.
I've measured all my implements, and it seems like I can make a Category II quick hitch fit just about everything with relatively little effort- by replacing lower link pins with longer ones, and adding a couple of upper link pins at the proper height.
With regard to Category II (~32" between the bottom hooks) quick hitches, what does everyone like? Looks like options are Speeco, Ag KNX (which might be the same as Speeco), and Titan.
Thank you,
