Hi all...
Just picked up a quick hitch that was on sale at a dealership. However, I致e got a problem with my 55 gal ballast barrel. The barrel used to fit fine between the lift arms without the hitch...but now the curvature of the barrel is hitting the hitch before I can get it on the pins. So I have to move the drawbar that goes through the centre of the barrel closer to the front. How close to the edge of the barrel can I get the drawbar and still keep the strength of the concrete needed to lift?

You can get the drawbar all the way to the front of barrel if you weld a couple pieces of tubing to the back of the drawbar extending into the barrel and pour concrete to flow around those pieces so they are impregnated into the concrete. Kind of like using rebar in a pour.
