Quick hitch recommendations

Looking at getting a Category 1 quick hitch soon. Any recommendations on which brand people prefer or which ones to avoid and why?

There are the expensive JD iMatch & LandPride then everything else. Everything else is pretty much equal in quality. I've gone through 4? Now & keep getting cheap ones.

1 from Northern Tool was attached to my L3200 when it sold
2 a Speeco I think from a garage sale got welded to a SSQA plate & was the plow mount (and handy for moving impliments. It ran off with the L3200
3 a Harbor Freight I got off CL for a friend's L3200
4 I got from Harbor Freight & is on my new L4060

I had to weld 1-1.5" spacer on the back of every one of em so the hook would fit all my impliments better. Most of em had the top hook bolts replaced with hitch pins for faster adjustment. I think at least 2 took some minor grinding to get the hooks to fit the CAT3 bushings.

I seriously thought about a LandPride with my new L4060, but $100 for a cheap one vs $300 for LP... An hour or 2 of work in my shop to get it working right & the way I like it is worth $100-200 easy. The LP might even need the hook extension still. Never had a problem with durability on any of the cheap ones.

I sure like my el-cheapo Harbor Freight one. Minor mods to the top hook, and it plugs along fine.
I replaced the bolts with pins, ground them flat on the outside (pin positioned between the hook and the bracket).
Works on all my implements.

Fallon, if it's not too much trouble, would you post a pic of the spacer you welded on. I assume you did that to extend the top hook out.

Ya, pretty much what I did just looking at the first photo. Several threads on here about that mod... where I got the idea from.

I have two of the Deere IMatch hitches with the fixed top hooks, never a problem with either.

I saw that pic. Early results with my new/first QH indicates that I may need to consider that option.

Both of mine have Land Pride quick hitches. Never had an issue with anything matching up. I do have to adjust the top hook depending on the implement but that is a normal process. You will also need spacers on the pins for a tight fit in the bottom hooks. I bought enough so every implement has a set. Any place that sells implements should have them as well as places like Tractor Supply.
